I just finished doing the oil change and it went very smoothly, thanks to all the advice on FChat!
The part that took the longest was removing the underbelly tray, and cleaning up after taking an oil bath. Apparently my rolling oil catch pan can't collect the oil as fast as it comes out of the car. Not fun!! Next time I'll have to come up with another way to dispose of the oil. Maybe I'll just dump it into a 5 gallon bucket, then pour it from the bucket into the oil catcher.
I have a question about how many quarts should go back in. I know this was covered ad nauseum, but I seemed to need more oil than anybody else.
After dumping the old oil, I put in 8 quarts, then started the car. I let it warm up fair about 6 or 7 minutes while checking to see if the oil was on the stick at all. There was no oil on it, so I dumped in another quart.....still no oil. I then left it idling for a few more minutes, the cap was starting to get too hot to touch. Still not a drop on the stick, so I added the 10 th quart. After the 10th quart, it was still not on the stick (I felt like I forgot the drain plug out, lol). Now at this point, I read enough on the forum to know that most people put in 9- 10 quarts, so I definitely didn't want to add more without the oil being fully hot, so I went for a drive. I drove for about 4 or 5 miles and made sure that the oil temp was at full operating temp. When I got home, I checked it again and STILL nothing on the stick! I now started to pour in the 11th quart. Once I had 1/2 of that 11th quart in, I started to see the oil on the bottom of the stick. I then poured in the remainder of the quart and the level wound up exactly in the middle of the high and low marks. I consider the level to be perfect, but my question is, why did my car need 11quarts when everyone else's got to the same level with 10 quarts? And I didn't even take the union apart and blow out the lines.

From what I've read, these systems require around 10+/- quarters of 5w40 oil.....

What I like to do, is drive the car and get the motor up to operating temperature BEFORE I change the oil....did you warm it up first?

Also, how long did you let it drain? Did you do it on jack stands or a lift? There could be many factors.

The bottom line is, if the dipstick reads correctly when the oil is at operating temperature, then you did it correctly....I wouldn't worry too much about why it took so much.

I did my own oil and filter (430) recently, and it took 11 1/2 quarts, of 0-40 Mobil One.

My understanding is it takes 11.......also my understanding is to place the dipstick in the opening without screwing it down, and while running of course to take the reading.

If the 360 is the same, then sounds like what you did was just fine. Hope so.

I warmed the oil up before I drained it.
I had it flat using a lift.
I let each one drain at least 20 minutes.
I didn't undo the union and deliver air to it.

I checked the oil with the dipstick resting on the opening.

I'm pretty sure that it's filled correctly, I was just shocked at how it took 11 quarts and it could have probably taken another 1/2 quart if I wanted to bring it to the high line!

I think you're good....I don't see any reason to think otherwise. Maybe you got more out than usual, thanks to the oil being hot!

My Ferrari indie mechanic just did my annual and he had a case of oil and gave me 1-½ quarts to take home and told me to check it when I got there. Although the oil was frothy and difficult to get a good reading but it was between the marks on the dipstick. I watched him do the service and he left the car to drain quite a while as he changed all four tires. So if the oil was hot when drained then the amount put in would depend on how long it was left before refilling.
