One of my friends just picked up a 2005 Black/Black Gallardo with ALL the options. Car was $199,985 sticker. Anyway, I just graduated highschool and today he let me drive it today with him in the car. MOST AMAZING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. I LOVE THE E-GEAR. Pics soon...

I drove for about 10 minutes. He was on his way to a meeting and i drove it there and had someone meet me. It was about 20 miles. When I hit the on ramp, i was quickly joined by a yellow ZO6. Quickly smoked him too! Anyway, I got it up to about 140~mph. It really honestly did not even seem like it in the least! SMOOTH!!! Little disappointed in the acceleration, but the sound made up for it. I just expected a little more Umph! But still very fast.

Nice, congrats on the grad present of a lifetime!

That's interesting your buddies car has the factory NAV system. This is the first US/Can market Gallardo I've seen equipped with it.

thats an average speed of 120mph - so taking into account stops and traffic I would have assumed you needed to get much higher than 140mph at some stages to maintain that average
Little disappointed in the acceleration? It would do me just fine I think :)
Congrats in anycase - something I hope to do one day ;)

The 140mph was only for so long. I quickly slowed down because it's not my car...it's $200,000 and there was no radar detector. Yeah, I wasn't aware you could get a $200,000 Gallardo either. I'll have to look at his sticker and see all of the stuff he got. I know it has a different exhaust system, and of course the navigation and stuff.

I don't think you understood my point - what you just said reinforces further that it is unlikely you maintained an average speed of 120mph for the trip

Well, first...I don't necessarily own them since my dad bought them all. And I'm 18 not 17. I mean it's fine if you don't believe me, cause believe me, you wouldn't be the first. There are many other forums which people can justify me. But like I said and I wouldn't lie about it, I didn't buy the cars, I am fortunate enough that my dad bought them for me.

yes...seems to be the norm. too bad. at any rate, mhaynes, what a great thrill that must have been to drive a g at 18!! i remember when i was your age and my dad brought home the first of the 930 turbos...the time he took me to a huge parking lot and let me drive remains etched in my mind! what a thrill.

and btw, when i he the 930 in 1976, the 930 was the top dog...nobody believed i drove one either. always skeptics w/ sour grapes.

now you got the taste...do well in school, stay focused and get a lambo for your self soon.

i dont care what cars you've owned i just want to say its fairly reckless to have an 18 year old doing 140 mph. I am not an advocate for not speeding having seen speeds over 190 myself, but at 18 you dont belong going that fast. If you want proof I have pictures of a local gallardo that was totalled and flipped when this guys son took it out with out asking to show his friend. Kid was lucky to walk away alive.

The Gallardo is stunning. I don't know if silver or black is best. If only the interior were as striking as the exterior.

Congratulations on the drive and pursue your goal until you achieve it.
