There was me thinking I have been lucky!!

    So has anyone had this....

Went to put the roof back up this evening after a lovely drive out and a rather nasty snap and a few clonks... and It looks like the little cover that moves down out the way (by the roll over hoop) when putting the roof back up, has not and the drivers side has not moved, or it has snapped off the silly little plastic bracket that pulls it down, the roof has then tried to close and and done some paint damage!!

Has this happened to anyone or does anyone know of this problem, can't be just mine!

    Any help is appreciated!

You might ask these guys if they are familiar with this issue:

Also known as the "flaps". Common issue, but the fixes are probably varied.

There are more robust metal replacements available, but first you'll have to figure out why it broke.

As Rick says, a picture (or video) is worth a thousand words.

I'm surprised the roof continued to move. Usually there are position-sensing microswitches to stop this happening.

Thanks, Ill take a picture. It looks to me like the cable has stretched or snapped, leaving the flap in place then the roof has closed on it snapping the bracket that is attached to the cable pull pulley part. it is still attached on the two slider guides, but it must have damaged them as it feels flimsy.

Well not much to take a picture of. The flap is still in situ although paint damaged, creased and out of alignment. The thread with the broken off mount is not moving during hood operation indicating a broken or stretched cable. It looks like I will have to buy the upgraded Euro parts aluminium flaps, have them painted and fitted at a cost of around £1200. Don't we just love these cars that are made out of chocolate and cheese!!

For now, I am going to heat up the flap and get it back to some sort of shape, then wet sand the paint damage, polish and try to position it correctly with some fixings so the car looks half decent to use and the hood can stay down for now!
