Hi everyone. New to Fchat... :)

I just bought a 93 512TR today… my dream cars for years. Finally!... Red on Black with 12K miles (30K service already done). Looks stunning and drives like a dream. It seems overall mechanically very sound except for brakes that squeak and brake pedal feeling very soft/spongy, so I assume new pads and system bleeding will be in order.

It also came with some of Ferrari typical quirks ;)… nothing major, but minor stuff I'll need to address (a few electrical glitches in the cabin like auto-seat belts and central locking system only working when they feel like, turning on the parking lights on blows the fuse of the instrument panel lights)...

Also, I would like to get a set of Challenge Wheels for the 512TR, as used on the 348 Competizione and 355 Challenge (stock pic below featuring the wheels). I have been looking around with no luck. No one seems to have them and I even called some Ferrari dealers around also with positively no luck. Any hints on where I should try and find a set of these wheels or anyone that is known to have the for sale?

Below is a pic of my oldest kid helping detailing the new Fcar. Will post more detailed pics tomorrow when its all cleaned-up.

Thanks upfront for any heads-up guys!

    Hi Travis,
As I was told before when I've got mine, now I'm telling you the same:"the TR is an awesome ride...."
Real Ferraris have a 12 cylinder in the back.

But the original wheels look better and suit the car more. How about a compromise, if you still want those Challenge wheels - have the original alloys anodised in white. After all it will look better and as I've already said suit the car more.

Yes, I could not agree with you more! V12 Fcars is the real thing. I've waited almost 10 years to get a 512TR because I could not afford it. But now, when I turn that ignition key on and the engine comes alive, the wait was so worth it. My kid slept inside the car in the garage last night! :)
Thanks for the tip, I will check them out... aside from the rivets on the outer part of the rim, they do seem very similar in design. Thanks!
I will keep the original wheels always as a back-up either way. I have a personal liking on the challenge wheels though. I've seen what they do for a 348 and a 355 and I think they'll look killer on the 512TR. Heck, the 512TR will look killer with any wheels :)

you are really going to want to buy some porterfield brake pads & rotors

put the race pads in the back to keep the tail planted

get rotors slotted & not cross drilled

if you take it to the track, install an oil cooler w a fan behind it bcus the oil will overheat fast

    and NO burnouts

    Good Luck

***VERY NICE***! Damn she looks killer!
Thanks for the heads-up. I was thinking actually on the getting at least a fan installed on the existing oil cooler (think there is one on the car with no fan). Can you point me in the right direction on where to buy a new oil cooler w/ fan kit? Should I buy a new complete kit or you think just adding a fan to the existing oil radiator will be enough?

    Thanks again!

You can get an oil cooler at any speed shop just insure it has metric threads or buy an old 512TR one

My mechanic installed a fan fan behind the new oil cooler & wired it so it comes on when the rad fans switch on

He's do it well too! He went from having 5 posters of testarossas in his room and all literature he could afford to get his hands on from ebay, to have one in the garage. He's been detailing some of the neighbor's cars for years... he knows his stuff... He knows al products in the market and all the moves. The 512TR looks pewrfect to me, but this moring he told me now he into polishing all chromes (including the metal around the cavalino logo on the hood)!

Very nice. Now just add the X-OST and it will sound as good as it looks!

p.s. - I added my video clip (finally) in this section so you can hear it.
