And now for the rest of the story...

YZEE told us at the F-Chat gathering that the Speed TV announcers stay at the Omni , and that every night around 11pm, Steve Matchet is in the hotel bar imbibing. So of course we show up there at 10:59.

It was very cool. Steve Matchet and Bob Varsha were there as well as a dozen team members from McLaren, and BMW, still in their track garb.

We did the usual "Nice to meet you", "I loved your book" and I think Soloipist said "CBS sucks, thank god you guys are doing Indy".

I notice one guy in a full Ford GT outfit, "What a tool", I think, as I stand there in my F-Chat t-shirt and F-Chat baseball cap.

Later that night he is outside showing someone his Ford GT, so we walk over, and it turns out he is THE Designer of the Ford GT. His name is Camilo Pardo. He is showing David Hobbs the design clues from the GT40, and the way they made changes. It was very interesting.

LOL! Thanks Jim, I thought you would get a kick out of that phone call. David Hobbs comments on the Ford GT outside the hotel were classic, you just had to be there. Also, after the race while heading back to car, I ran into Camilo Pardo again. I got a photo op & spoke with him for a bit about the event, my photos will be up later this week since Nicola & myself are still on the road (just west somewhere of Hot Springs, Arkansas).
