Well, I finally found another 308 and all is well in the universe again I purchased my first Ferrair 308 in 1998. It was a 1983 Euro car and boy was it fun. I did some brake, suspension, and engine mods to it.... man I loved that car. Well last winter I got really stupid and sold my 308 to a nice guy who works at a local Ferrari shop. At the time I really did not miss it too much... I have an S4 and a 280Z track car to tinker with and they were keeping me busy. I did a few track events with the Z and I was having fun. After a couple months I started to get this weird feeling every time I went into the garage. I started really missing my 308... I couldn't believe that I actually sold her So this winter I started looking for a nice Euro QV car. Something in good shape, something that would make a real nice driver and not a garage queen! After a few months of searching I made a pretty good deal on a nice 1984 308 GTSi QV (42,000 KM, Red with tan interior, and pretty good service records). The car did need a little maintenance work done, so I budgeted for a major service. Once I got the car back home I sent it over to Jack and Craig at NJB. I had them do a major service, fix some oil leaks, and do a good engine detailing. Man did they do a great job (and under budget I might add!!). I have included some before and after pictures of the engine bay. Looks really good now... thanks Craig!!! Here are some photos... Steve, Love what you did with the engine bay! Just curious though, why did you put the flexible between plenumbox and K-jet back up-side-down? (mine, as most others I've seen have the yellow triangle at the plenum-side).
Very nice engine bay! It sure looks sweet. I have one just like it, execpt 1979 with 1980 seats (they are so much better than 79 seats). Whats your total cost into it so far (hate to be nosey but I may put mine up for sale soon). Thanks in advance. Nick
Congrats on 308 #2, those cam covers really came out nice, gives the whole engine bay a new look. Enjoy the ride.
Congrats on the great looking 'Euro' 308. But I might be a little biased. And what a super job on the engine. I do have one question,......How did you get out of the 308 once it was on the trailer? Through the window?
branko: How did you get out of the 308 once it was on the trailer? Through the window? Well that is a funny question. We drove the car up on the trailer and then noticed that the door would not clear the trailer fender. So I had to take the top off and go out the window. Had a heck of a time getting the window up and top back on. buckminster: Whats your total cost into it so far (hate to be nosey but I may put mine up for sale soon). Well, I payed $27k total for the car and the service work at NJB was about $5k. So, I have around $32k into it so far. As long as nothing breakes I should be good to go for a while Kingpin328: Just curious though, why did you put the flexible between plenumbox and K-jet back up-side-down? (mine, as most others I've seen have the yellow triangle at the plenum-side). To be honest I did not even know it was on the wrong way. I will flip it around next time I have her out. Thanks for the info! Thanks for all the nice comments... I must say that NJB did a great job on the engine. It not only looks good but it runs really good too. I can wait for some nice weather here in Ohio so I can drive her!!! Any other 308 or Ferrari owners in the Columbus area? If so we should all get together some time!!
branko: One more question,......What kind of wheels are on your 308? And are they 16" wheels? The wheels are BBS and they are 16". I do not know what model.
greatt white interior and I love the crinkle black vavle covers I am going to do that...what paint did they use...also kingpin (bram) is right..triangle up!
beautiful car; and nice job with the freshen up! I've always had a weak spot for these cars. You might wantto contact Steve Rochlin. He is another 308 Euro freak...
The 308 looks phenominal with those BBS's. Great car and the engine bay really shines! I can't wait until I'm ready to look for a 308.
Was it the 308i you sold last winter...? And you replaced it with the QV, that turned out to be a nice switch actually. Really nice one. Don't sell her again.
