They deliverd my "new" 1982 400i Cabriolet this morning. Took a quick burn down the freeway, smooth, powerful and overall satisfied. After I checked the fludis and filled the benzina tank, I hit the freeway to a secret place the coppers can't shoot radar. A mile long up hill 4 lane sweeping turns and I had the urge to be naughty. I had to lift at 125. Any further and them coppers would had zeroed me in for a really big bit of cash. The top was down and the exhaust was damn near sexual at speed.

Need to replace the gas struts on the hood. Anyone have any ideas???? Tires, who prefers what and from who?? Yes these are metrics. Ideas about wheels too??? I have an extra set of 16" Gotti's for my 308, think they will fit??

    I'm in love again,

    Congrats!
Which # did you end up with? A bundas car right?
As far as tires go you only have 1 choice unless you switch wheels. Be prepared to pay north of $550 each for TRX's.

For the lift struts there is a specialist in Canada that custom makes them (he is an Aussie). He has all the dimensions and gas pressure from the set that he made for me about Jan '07. Here is his web link: http://www.lstechnologies.ca/Products.htm. Tell him they were made for Ken Battle.

Be sure to install them with the seal in the downward side so that the oil is always lubricating the seal. I believe the factory installed them the wrong way around and the seals dry out that way.

With the gas pressure he set in mine you lift the hood about 1/3 and the struts lift it the rest of the way. Cool.

Interesting you should mention the factory installed the struts upside down. Mine are in fact were installed the same way. I just thought they had been out and reinstalled wrong. The reason mine failed is the seals are chunked out and split.

Thank you for the information, I will be contacting them today. I have a friend in the aircaraft industry that has access to many different sizes and lengths and he is also checking for me.

So far love the car can't wait to see the look on my wifes face when I give it to her next week on her birthday.
