John, I'll meet you at the Conn Ave entrance to the Dupont Circle tunnel, you won't be able to hear all the cr*p, just your pipes. enjoy the noise Matt
The cats on my 91 348 have a flange on each end , one side matches up to the header and the other side to the muffler. the pic of the cats in the parts manual also show 2 flanges
The ones that quote Shakespeare's "...let's kill all the lawyers..." have obviously not seen nor read Henry V1. Contrary to popular belief, that proposal was not designed to criticise lawyers. Rather, it was intended to eliminate those who might stand in the way of the contemplated revolution-in a conversation between Jack Cade and Dick the Butcher- underscoring the important role that lawyers play in a civilized society. The statement of Dick the Butcher "...lets kill all the lawyers..." was meant to emphasis the surest way to chaos and tryanny by removing the guardians of independant thinking. So, the uneducated amoung us should do a little research before spouting off quotes from great literature of which they do not understand.
If it were "just a couple horses" I would agree with you. But for the older cars with the old tech cats, the change could be worth upwards of 10%... not an inconsequential amount especially considering the small expense. The sound also improves as does mileage. Modern hi-flow cats would be a better route, but none really exist in a bolt-on version. I do not have direct experience with K-jet F-cars, but I do have a lot of experience with K-jet. Being airflow calibrated, it does a great job of automatically compensating for a very wide range of mods, even including hot cams. You do need to rejet carb cars. Bill
Dude, just relax. You came off like wiener, you got flamed, it's over. I forgive you. Try some looser fitting underwear or perhaps some decaf. Just stop talking like a wiener. Image Unavailable, Please Login
"guardians of independant thinking"......Hmmm, isn't that a quote from Stalin? He considered himself a "guardian" too. That's the problem with you holier-than-thou types. You don't realize that "guardian" and "independant" are at opposite ends of the spectrum. But hey, what do I know! I'm still 4 cylinders short of a full load! Jim
FYI, I have had more than one PM from FChatters that agree with me that it is not to wise to pose info on a public forum about removing emissions related equipment from your street car. In fact, one fellow told me about another car related forum that a jealous non-owner turned in several people to law enforcement which resulted in their getting their cars confisgated. Jealous people do mean things; don't give them the necessary info to make you their victim. Also, you would not believe some of the stories I could tell you about what an angry soon-to-be ex-wife will do to hurt her husband . If you're going through a divorce...BEWARE!
Here is an example of how your original post could have been worded: "Hey fellas! Just a friendly "Heads-up!" Probably not a great idea to post about removing emissions equipment on a public site. Here's why..." Think of all the bandwidth you could have saved..tsk, tsk... Taking a condescending, scollding tone on this board is just asking to get slammed.
What do you say we just let this thread die. I love ALL you guys, you all love me (ya right!), we all love Frank....it was all just a case of mis-interpretation between sender and receiver. GROUP HUG!!!!!!!
You guys are a trip, over ten thousand miles with no cats since last March, nothing but straight pipes, the only thing that's hurt are my ears. My state does not require emissions at this time, hell, we don't even have inspections, most of our woman are bare foot and pregnant too...just the way we like them... Come out and do www.tailofthedragon.com in a few weeks with us. You'll get the picture. A nice, safe, legal, but very loud experience.
I don't think parkerfe meant any offence with his original posting, but I'm sure surprised how many people skewered him. I personaly know someone who lurks a number of boards for the sole reason of busting people who admit to certain violations (not car related - he's a building inspector who loves making life hell for people who do work without the proper permits). If someone can be that anal about someone having an unauthorized back porch - don't you think there may be someone with some pull who might just be an enviro-nazi? Meant only as a heads up & c.y.a.
Well... I read it because it was entertaining and enlightening. My older Ferrari is pretty loud and I've always suspected someone gutted the cats. My state is one that doesn't care about emissions so it's not illegal here, just annoying on long drives. It sure is fun on short hops though! All hail to ringing ears!
Almost 5 pages about test-pipes, emissions, pollution of the environment, violation, laws.... Isn`t this ironical that on the other hand "The Kyoto-Protocol" is still not signed by the US government???
Only a lawyer would get so caught up in making/justifying his argument that he would completely lose sight of the real issue...
I just opened up this thread. parkerfe - idiot of the year! When do we get to vote on this? I wish I were as bright as parkerfe: 1. "just posted on an internation forum" 2. felony - yeah right 3. since when is merely removing an emission control device a crime (let alone a felony)? parkerfe - you are a first rate jerk. Get your head out of your as$ and take a chill pill. Are you smart enough to look in the mirror and realize you are an as$ and try and change your ways? Or are you just going to continue to dig in deeper with your pathetic follow-up nonsense?
parkerfe - how often do you wash the windows of your glass house? "so the uneducated amoung [sic] us" relax - enjoy life, you menopausal moron.
I know this one!!! November 15, 1990. http://www.epa.gov/compliance/resources/policies/civil/caa/mobile/donttamper.pdf Slam Frank all you want for pushing his V12 attitude and his dry legal delivery, but he is right on this one.
