This document pretty much spells it out that its illegal for even a private individual to replace them. http://www.epa.gov/compliance/resources/policies/civil/caa/mobile/exhaust-guide-rpt.pdf I'm not an attorney and I don't even try to play one on Fchat, but reading the answer to question #4, it seems like even selling test pipes is illegal. Am I wrong on this one?
Yeah, you've got to read to the first sentence of the 2nd paragraph for the first reference to the fact that this applies to everyone (as a matter of fact, the word anyone is in bold there). The 2nd page explicitly states that the law was expanded to apply to everyone... If you like Frank's style or not, at least maybe everyone will now know that it's illegal to remove the emissions control system from a car and can choose to post about that in a public forum or not with the relevant facts now. "Wouldn't I feel stupid if..."
I hadn't seen that 2nd page part expanding it, thanks. I thought the first page "anyone" applied to anyone in those categories, otherwise whats the need for the first paragraph. Anyways i have read in flyers and websites presented in govt. legalspeak about defective and 50,000 miles applying to removal. I guess the best choice is still the hi flow route.
Tommy, how about you & I discuss test pipes (if there is anything left to say about them) and let everyone else argue? As I mentioned earlier, I put a s/s set on my dad's new 348 Spider last Friday night (that I got from a guy Martin recommended, last name of Olsson) for $300.00 delivered. Fit like a glove and he shipped them before he even got my check!! Great guy. I believe he is in Utah or maybe Idaho. I can find out for sure if anyone is interested.
Wait a minute... both "Sandy" and I have birthdays coming up in a week or so. Are you callin' us primates????
I haven't visited this thread in a couple of days and only had time to read the last few posts. We are now debating whether homosexual Ferrari owners should be allowed to use test pipes? Not that there's anything wrong with that. Tom
A homosexual Ferrari owner can only use test pipes for track use and then only if the track is located in a red state.
Funny you should mention that, I'm trying to get my state rep to sponsor a bill to prevent the insertion of gerbils into test pipes........ :O
That's a great idea, as this is getting to epidemic levels. Hampsters and 3 toed sloths too, but to a lesser degree.
