Wow looks nice and aggressive! Real "don't argue" car. That front spoiler looks quite deep. Is aftermarket?
Yes, I did not add the splitter. It was done 5 years ago because of performance issue's with front end lift at high speeds.
Michael, do you see what you have started? Thanks for posting this thread, its really great to see the ever increasing list of Boxer owners on FChat. The list is great.
Has anyone owned both a 308 and a boxer? I have a 308 but have always loved the boxer above all. Is the ride so different or just the power? Thanks and sorry if it is a stupid question.
Its not a stupid question, I have both and they are very different. The BBi feels much heavier, less tossable in the turns but has a much better thrust from behind at any speed with the 12 and the sound is amazing compared to the 8. 2 different cars, 2 different purposes but I have to say the 308 will get sold in a couple of years and Ill stick with the BBi. I think it spoiled me and I cant go back. The BBi has the power the 308 should have and thats all the 308 is lacking really.
I bought a 308 sight unseen (don't ask) and I might be in for a shocker from my service guy. I am thinking if the bill is too much selling the car and my 65 Vette and going all the way with the boxer. Prices seem to be in the $70K - $85K range. Not bad for the ultimate Ferrari...in my eyes.
I have a 328 and 512BB carbed, they are both very different. The Boxer handles better and is more predictable less likely to spin, the carbed cars are the lightest and weigh almost the same as my 328, it also is much louder and deeper sounding, I like hitting underpasses and flooring it as it sounds outrageous but can cause my ears to ring. Powerwise the 12 has instant torque vs the 328 makes its power above 3000rpm, the BB has much more room inside than the 328 as well. The negative with the BB is attention it gets compared to the 328, it's rediculous and I can't drive without a big audience freaking out or trying to figure out what it is.
I previously owned two different 308s ('81 GTSi / '83 GTS QV) before I bought my BBi two years ago. The -only- thing that I miss about the 308s is the removable targa top. Other than that, there's no looking back. The BBi just blows them away in all aspects.
You guys are making me look at denningcars.org. I am so hoping I can make the mental excuse to go with the BB. Once in a lifetime.
I have both now and really love very different things about them both. The 308 is more of a jump in and go car and the removable roof is really nice when the weather is good. The BB is a little bit more of a production to get going, not difficult, just more details, looking at the carbs, checking the single lug knock-off, etc. Once you're in though, the BB wins hands down, fair weather or no. Every once and a while, the reduced volume of the QV is advantageous, but all in all.....I'll keep 'em both! Don't know whats up with that site but the 2 512BBs in the US were both bought by Fchatters here JTR and Donv months ago, prices are a little behind, look everywhere and grab one while you can you won't regret it.
Hey jrg1.....Where abouts in nyc are you....Do you keep the car in manhattan. Potholes can be rough on boxers...
Any Boxer owners up for a Southern California get together ? Let's get a location and meet. I just finished my front end and Alignment ready to show and go. This picture has my custom 2 cat system on just after the test only smog that i passed I will need to remove and install my original unit - but this system sounds a ton better than stock - almost like a tubi but gets way too hot!! Also this picture was taken during the computer alignment - notice the boxes mounted on the wheels. Image Unavailable, Please Login
To heck with the concourse Q Tip thing, lets have a race and settle once and for all which Boxer is KING! My money is on the 512BB with those 12 big Webers.
