Hey everyone: I have been lurking around here for a bit and thought I would finally join in. I grew up in the Ferrari world and my father was an importer/dealer in Orange County in the 70's and 80's. I have seen many old names here that I recognize (Ed Niles and some others) and figured this must be an OK place. I previously worked in the automotive import/export business before I became a slave to corporate America!!!! Anyways, just thought I would introduce and say "hi". I enjoy your discussions and can maybe add a thing or two from time to time. Vernon Lindholm, III
Welcome aboard Vernon. I knew some Lindholms growing up in Lake Zurich, Illinois. Any chance they might be related?
Hey Vernon- good to see another South Bay f-car enthusiast here, as we are outnumbered on SoCal f-chat. It sounds like you had some great experiences/exposure to exotics from you Dad- you're a lucky guy. From your profile I assume you're working at Toyota or Honda? If so, take solice in the fact that you are working at one of the few big corporations that isn't into massive layoffs and actually cares (a little) about it's people. See you around, Eric
I appreciate the kind words. I am not too sure about relatives in Illinois, but I have heard that "Lindholm" is like "Smith" in Sweden, so I assume it may be a bit common. I have heard about the Crystal Cove meets and might show up down there sometime, I always have neat cars around (either myself or friends) that might be worth checking out. I spent lots of time at cars shows with the company I previously worked for, so I'm not a big fan of them much anymore. I have had some neat experiences with Ferraris and many fond memories (nothing like being picked up from school in different cars all the time ranging from Boxers, 288 GTOs, Daytonas, Dinos, etc. and those are only the Ferraris! Needless to say I was always the kid friends fathers would always wait for in the morning to see what the car of the day was). I do work now for the new youth brand of a large Japanese company (hint, it starts with and S and ends with an N). I am very grateful I am not in the same boat as our domestic couterparts, I read reports everyday on how much money they are losing and how many people they are laying off. Anyways, I appreciate the kind welcome and hope to maybe make it out to a few events you guys end up having. I am in the process of going through all of my Dad's archives of Ferrari stuff as he always got neat stuff from the factory when he went. I don't even know all of the stuff he has anymore as most of it is in storage. Back then he used to give most of it away as presents to dealers and customers or throw it in boxes as it was just free stuff. Now days, everyone loves it. Thanks again and I'll see you around.
