Hello everyone in the DFW area. I just moved here and I am looking for a place to watch Formula One. Does anyone know if a sports bar shows the races? Would anyone be interested in watching the next race there? It's Monaco May 22nd.
NASCAR seems to have control over Texas. When someone asks me who my driver is, I reply "Michael Schumacher" and wait for the blank look on their face.

Check www.fcadfw.com for our local Ferrari events. You only have to be a FCA member for a few of those.

We do watching parties for most of the live ones. Mostly at someones house.

Once Football starts it is harder to get a bar to show F1.

LOL... If there's a middle ground between living on Oak Cliff and living on Oak Lawn, it's living in Grand Prairie. :)

I like that area. I wish I could get out that way. Be great for me, but my fiance we hate it as she works in Coppell. I work in Mesquite. Living in East Dallas now, by White Rock Lake. Looking to get close to 75 and 635 in the next couple months.

As I am new to the DFW area, I have no idea where you guys are talking about. I do know where Mesquite is because I went to my first ever rodeo last weekend. Didn't see any Ferraris in the parkng lot, though. I was gonna make a Lamborghini/bull joke, but nothing I could think of was verry funny.

What does Bull and Lamborghini riding have in common?

You hope the ride will last more than 8 seconds! :D

If you were at the Mesquite Rodeo, you are close to the Id software office. There may be a Ferrari or two to be found over there.

btw, Welcome to FChat & TEXAS.

Thanks for the warm reception everyone.
Back to the topic at hand. Does anyone know a sportsbar that shows F1 races?

Since you asked about Monaco, I looked and it will be covered on Speed Channel, according to CBS Sports:

    http://www.sportsline.com/autoracing/schedules/OPEN_F

Speed will carry Monaco live, which means around 7am Sunday morning. So that kind of rules out sports bars...

For the races that are televised at a normal hour, I think we have FCA watching parties scheduled, which you're more than welcome to attend:

    Thanks.
According to FCA"We have been watching F1 races at the M.A.T. and Lineback for the past few seasons."
Can anyone tell me where M.A.T. and Lineback is?

    Ooops.

I forgot to edit that. It was true when the site was started :D

Lineback was a high end car dealer, now defunct. M.A.T. is McKinney Avenue Tavern, a neat little place but we haven't been there in a while.

Most of the F1 races recently we've met at someone's house. See http://www.fcadfw.com/2005f1australia.shtml for this year's Australia gathering.

Forget the Ferraris at the rodeo but I would surmise you saw some really neat pick-ups. Haven't been to the rodeo in Mesquite in several years - it was much nicer with Neal Gay actually ran the place. Guess they could always replace the John Deere's with Lambo tractors. I've got a really cute stuffed Lamborghini bull that rides between the seats in the SLK 350 - his name is "Lambull". Welcome to Texas.

As soon as I get my Speed Channel back and have a few more places to sit, I would be glad to host a F1 watching party. Although we moved into our new house over Christmas, it takes me a while to get settled in. Bigger house = bigger TV :)

    Welcome to Dallas(/Ft. Worth)

As all have previously said, welcome. I live in SW Dallas and go to school in Cedar Hill, just south of Joe Pool. Hope to see you at an upcoming event. Feel free to dig around the Texas board...there are lots of tidbits of info about restaurants and other good things in the area.

Again, welcome to F-chat and DFW

The biggest problem is that now that the circus is in the European theater all of the races start at 6:30 AM our time. Of course there is the Canadian and the US race which will be in the middle of the day as well as Brazil. WE will be at the two North American races, but might be interested in doing a Brazilian Watching party if anyone is interested. Then the Asian races are very late at night, so you are sort of stuck. However, I believe that the Londoner Pub in Addison would show the day races. I talked to a fellow who said they showed the races sometimes. Welcome to Dallas-look forward to meeting you. Lots of Ferraris in this town!
