    I failed two california smog checks. Found out my cats were empty. I tracked down a set of stock cats, put them on and passed by a wide margin. This was on a 95 F355.

    Empty as in someone gutted them ?? ....Or more likely they rattled apart which = material upstream in your exhaust, which = no bueno.

    That's a good question. One was completely empty, the other looked like it had been recored. If I pull the muffler can I look in there and see the pieces? Or is there some other way to tell?

    shake the muffler.....missing cat likely in there
