Less than two years ago I bought my first Ferrari, a 2006 F430. I promised my wife at the time it would be at least 2 years before I bugged her about another car...oops. Earlier today I just plunked down the deposit for a 2016 Cali T that I'll be picking up Thursday. Somewhat high in miles (14k...) but I'm actually ok with that - it means it was getting used properly. No real point to this thread other than to celebrate the fact, and really there's very few groups of people you can complain about having to wait 6 whole days for your Ferrari without them muttering under their breath about you.

Anything I should be aware of as a new CaliT owner?

As with the 488,there is a lot more power available because Ferrari removed so much to make the engine feel normally aspirated. In the first three gears, for example, over 100 lb-ft of torque is tuned out. Example from this forum with a 488: totally stock, tuned,+ 70 rwhp; performance a/f added, another 10 rwhp. So you can do just a tune or add a/f and exhaust also.

I hope yours has Handling Speciale.

Just a better fit for us. We have kids and can rarely take the 430 because no room. Plus, my wife prefers the smoothness of the dual clutch.

Congrats! I’m a bit envious of you but I still hope you get lots of enjoyment out of your new ride. While the California T is quite different then the f430 I feel it’s still enough of a Ferrari, and more versatile, that you’ll enjoy it as much as your F430.

I like how you can drive the California models seemingly all day comfortably, unlike the F430 too and just the added room in the drivers seat over the F430 pretty much put the nail in the coffin for an F430 purchase for me. I guess my taste for vehicles changed considerably the older I got.

Post pics after you get your new ride and enjoys

There will most definitely be pictures coming on Thursday. It's black on black with black wheels and carbon fiber galore. Best part is the kids don't know a thing about it, so I'm just going to show up to pick up my son from school next week in it and see his expression.

I took my 430 out today. I have a back sprain for a while and did not use it. I remember how much I love it. Its not the fastest anymore, the newest, or the best. BUt there is nothing like the six speed and the sound of the engine.

Then I took my Cali out. No slouch, Just as fast, not as low, great sounds, and open top for the sun and fun. I'm glad I did not delete one for the other, but I think the Cali is more practical ( my kids have grown out of the backseat, but I understand) and more useable. I take the Cali everywhere. The 430 is a planned trip, roads, parking without any changes in plans. And it, like I , are aging and it shows for both. Still fun, but life moves on.

Must have pictures please. Your son will be soooo happy. Those moments are what we live for. Congrats- awesome car and awesome plan.

Congratulations. You'll love the California. I was driving a Porsche 991and a Porsche GT Carrara. The 991 was great and fast until I drove the California T. The California is very smooth and a great GT car, loud when you need it to be and more than fast enough for me. I actually like it better than my 991 and GT Carrara.
Open the exhaust up at the rear very easy. The sounds will entice you. Use it in good health and don't be afraid to pile on the miles.

Pics will come tomorrow but oh wow... It's a very different experience than the F430 (which I knew / expected) but I wasn't prepared for just how great it is just puttering around. Didn't get out of the dealer until after 3 (rush hour in the bay area goes ~3 to 7) and it was super smooth and calm driving around. This could be dangerous, I could see a lot of miles going on this...

Don't fear the miles. You live only once. Might as well do it behind the wheel of a Ferrari. Congrats and enjoy...T

First decent picture, we went out for a Saturday morning Dunk'n run.

It's black on black, Daytona style seats, carbon fiber galore (center caps, driving zone, central tunnel, air vents) .

Looks pretty. No eating powdered donuts in that all-black beauty. [emoji6]

Maybe complete the look with CF shields?

Honestly I like the way the yellow shields pop on the black. Actually considering getting the yellow center caps as well hub I haven't decided yet on that.

    Awesome in Nero. Well done.

Pretty much dream car and spec.

Daughter decided to apply to NYU Tisch at $80k per with 2 in college and 2 to go so might be trolling here a little longer.

Not really. As noted on many threads here (confirmation alive and well is this is the Cali/Porto sub-forum), the car does so many things well. It also very easy to live with as a daily driver. If the car is already a Handling Speciale, you then have the best of all worlds. If not, you can add the package now (except maybe for the sharper / faster / harder transmission shifts) by buying the factory exhaust upgrade (worth it -- makes a slightly loud car pretty much perfect) and the handling package (increases spring/shock firmness by somewhere around 15%).

If you are not really going to push the car that hard the handling package my be unneeded. It is a heavy car so a handling upgrade is a nice add if you will mainly find yourself on the twisty roads.

Like all Ferrari's, you will want to keep your battery conditioner connected (comes with the car) between uses -- especially if it is for occasional use.

I've been living with mine for 2 years now and I have not regretted the purchase for one second. Awesome machine -- especially as you will be enjoying the depreciated value instead of MSRP. Enjoy!

You should also consider painting the brake calipers yellow to match the shield. It "pops" like crazy and is incredibly attractive (IMHO).
