I just got home after watching the new movie "Sherlock Holmes," starring my favorite actor Robert Downey Jr. I can't speak for anyone else but I thought it was great - I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, and loved Holmes' character's sense of wit and logic. It was two hours long, but I didn't feel like it was a minute overdue for an ending. Two thumbs up, in my opinion (and RDJ's got a great fake british accent). It grossed over $65,380,000 in the opening weekend, so others must share my opinion. Anyone else's thoughts on the movie?

Saw it last night. I actually liked it better than Avatar! Say what you want about RDjr's personal life, he is a fine actor! And I thought Jude Law and he did a great job working together.

I saw it and liked it. Also, I like RD as an actor, and since there are many, many SH stories, I hope that there will be additional Robert Downey Jr. / Jude Law - Sherlock Holmes/Dr. Watson movies to come.

I too have been wanting to see this movie. Might have to sometime soon! :D. Glad to hear RDJ has got a good English accent, usually American actors have rubbish English accents. ;)

We really enjoyed the movie. However, my wife wasn't too thrilled about the fact that they were so blatant about a sequel being made.
I also got excited when I saw the Iron Man 2 trailer :D

OK, so I've seen the trailers and I find it disgusting. The Sherlock Holmes stories are fantastic in their own right, why must Hollywood do special effects and all that BS? This movie and Avatar totally have me hating Hollywood and it's penchant for turning everything into a special effects showcase. Lame!

But I guess in a world where people show more desire to play Rock Band on video games rather than learn a real instrument, where people are more likely to play video game bowling than go to a real alley, where people spend more time sending text messages and internet updates than talking to people face to face.... I suppose this film trend fits right in.

Avatar isn't a product of the Hollywood special effects craze; It was first conceived in 1994, it's just a matter of coincidence that it was released now; it was intended for release in 1999. The movie was made the way it was because it really meant a new generation of cinematic experience, and a lot of the 3D technology used in popular movies like "Coraline" and "Up" was developed specifically for "Avatar." The film wasn't necessarily created for being a special effects showcase, it was created to mark a more modern approach to film making that had never been used before. The same idea is seen in "The Wizard of Oz." When L. Frank Baum wrote the novel "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz," Dorothy's slippers were silver, but being one of the first films to use technicolor, "The Wizard of Oz" features Dorothy's slippers being ruby. Likewise, "Avatar" showcases the most advanced technology available at the time. The special effects are amazing in their own rite because they were new and innovative at the time of production, the majority of which involved inventing even the stereoscopic cameras it was filmed with. For a movie made almost entirely from scratch, including the equipment it was created with, I was astounded that it even got finished.

But, different strokes for different folks, and your opinion is just as valid as that of anyone else; I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the movie as much as I did.
