No, but keep whining and using that magic phrase "adjusted for inflation" -- BWHAHAHA! Don't you just love how Tesla and Musk now call their Level 2 "SFSD" like that somehow makes it actual Level 5 FSD? I guess it is if you "adjust for inflation"
Steve, weren’t you one of the more vocal debaters in the inflation B&I threads arguing there’s been a **** ton of inflation since 2019??? Since you seem to be fully aware of inflation, why are you holding it against Musk to keep his prices the same as they were estimated to be in 2019??
Steve hates Musk because the government stuck their hand in Steve's pockets and gave it to Musk. (To the tune of 400M) - 333 Feds, 65 from Texas I understand that, I don't like it either. @Steve Magnusson , I'm on you side. I hate subsidies. I mean at least we're supposed to get it back right? Maybe the US can tax Tesla on their profits, since you know, for the last 5 years they actually got a 1 million dollar refund? Though theoretically, once they run out of carryover, it should kick in. We'll see. I mean yeah, Musk (the richest man in the world?!) pays near zero percent taxes; but hey, them the breaks. Some do feel the richest in the world deserve to pay no taxes you know? don't want to be called the "ist" words now do you? Here's the kicker Steve, we both think in certain things Musk is scofflaw, we share common ground friend. Let me guess though, I suspect Steve, you would support anything that gives Musk an even bigger tax break (or maybe a refund?) right? I'm not even saying Musk should be taxed more you know? Can the 'same' percent as a janitor be a good starting point? I talk to people like @Steve Magnusson that will disagree, which makes me scratch my head - that's okay, I don't understand it, but there's a lot of things in the world I can't comprehend.
I have no idea what you are trying to say here -- and have lost interest in arguing with someone who doesn't understand basic science. PS I don't hate just Musk. I hate the entire faux-green religion -- which is so "sustainable" it only needs a continuous supply of other people's money.
Subsidies are not unusual to try and bolster business in the US. You may not like it but let's not pretend it's only Tesla. Intel is one of many chip manufacturers that have received Billions this year. Take a look at your source for Intel, add these up if you dare https://subsidytracker.goodjobsfirst.org/?company_op=starts&company=intel Musk and other very wealthy individuals don't pay taxes on what they are worth, it's all on paper until they cash out. In 2021 he paid one of the highest individual tax bills in history of over $11 Billion. https://www.cnbc.com/2021/12/20/elon-musk-says-he-will-pay-over-11-billion-in-taxes-this-year.html
On the first point, you're right. It's not just Tesla that gets subsidies, but a ton of other companies. The idea is that it will pay off in the long term. After all, this thing we call the 'internet' was subsidized. I get it and love it when it works, and hate it when it doesn't. My post doesn't show this nuanced position that I take things on a case-by-case basis. It's admittedly curt and hyperbolic as I'm trying to sway my friend @Steve Magnusson Musk doesn't pay zero taxes every year. Of course, he'll pay his capital gains minus every deduction his staff of accountants and lawyers will legally take. That's just it—it's a one-time thing. Then, he can take loans and pay zero taxes. That's what he does now; Musk takes no salary from his companies; he gets subsidized loans from them. Then you can pay back the low interest loans and bam - zero tax. The tax code favors fiscal gymnastics—just ask any corporate accountant of a Fortune 500 company. I'm not an 'ist' by any means, and I don't want to eat the 'rich' - why would I? I don't want to be put on spic. I won't lie, though, and ignore that the upper middle class is getting the dirty shoe. Certainly not Musk or Bezos, that's for sure. I'm using effective rate as an objective measure.
Oh, really? WHEN? We've only been doing it for about 30 years (so the hole that we've already dug is HUGE). Calling it an "investment", without an ROI plan, is just religion. Remember when EVERYONE in the 1950's envisioned that we'd all be using flying cars in the year 2000? They were all wrong (just like you). Should we be funding a few smart people trying to develop something that is actually better = ABSOLUTELY! Should we be spraying money out of a fire hose to promote the widespread adoption of something that isn't actually better in the misguided, completely unjustified false hope that "someday it will be better" = NFW!
Well, this internet 'investment' turned out pretty good? (well, depending on who you ask, it could be pretty bad.)
I'm with you brother! I've seen the waste and fraud first hand, a lot of the subsidies were to pie in the sky projects. I hate it even more everytime tax time comes around and I write a six figure check to our favorite uncle, while Musk is down the street smiling at me with his zero tax loans to fuel up his Gulfstream 7. (pays back with equity 'in kind') Smart as hell, I won't lie, also won't be a hypocrite, I'd do the same exact thing.
Oh, I already know that you think you are smartest person in the world -- no question about that, but I can't recall you answering "WHEN". Oh, by the way, Model 2 = POOF! Who could've guessed that was also Musk/Tesla vaporware hype?
The sign of a wise person is when they admit when they are proven wrong. Like this or this Or say this Something I dear say is a piece of wisdom many have never learned. That's why some never grow and are stuck on Go. (they don't even get to collect $200.) *** Here is another one, you're absolutely right the 25K Tesla is off the table, it's going all for RoboTaxi. We'll see how that goes.
Another off-topic response? WHEN, GENIUS! "Someday, it will pay off" is not an answer -- it's deflection -- but your Master Musk is an expert at that, too. And "it's going all for RoboTaxi. We'll see how that goes"? Yeah, right, Robotaxi coming soon since 2017 -- BWHAHAHA!
On the promise of selling millions of $40K Cybertrucks that would be better than today's existing $60K ICEV Trucks = didn't happen. The new vaporware hype promise is an inexpensive robotaxi that will make you a lot of money every year. Or is it the $20K Floptimus autonomous robot? If you are stupid enough, and gullible enough, to believe either of those fantasies = buy more Tesla stock.
FUKIN HELL!!! Now I'm losing with this dog with fleas...should've listened to Bud Fox....thank god for NVIDIA to make me forget about this one
Not denying that it may be a great buying opportunity but I don't look at the rear view mirror and drive. The short term looks like its going to be a very painful period for them until they can prove that the company can be turned around. The story stock phase has run it's course IMO.
