Looks like Grigio Silverstone and Cuio. Correct ? A very nice combination for the 612 (also the F430) in the picture !!

The carbon kit was a last minute option and I am still not sure if I want it or no. I think it will make the car more sporty. It's a $9000 option give or take. What do you think.

    Many congratulations!

With all due respect, I am curious if you gave thought to depreciation before placing the order? At least in the United States, you would be taking a major hit over a few years ($75K+). Is it just the sort of thing where you want a new car done to your specs and just don't care? Have you weighed these costs and determined that it's worth it to you? I just can't imagine buying one of these cars brand new.

    Cheers,
    Z

I can't answer for Lovelybroker, but I have given the purchase of a 612 some thought, and I will definitely buy a new one if I end up buying one.

Why? Basically because ANY 612 you buy in the next 3-4 years, new or used, is going to have serious depreciation. Yes, a new one will depreciate somewhat more than a used one, but both will be a big number. And given that, I'd rather pay a bit extra for the non-monetary benefits of owning a NEW Ferrari (an experience I'd like to have at least once in my life), and having a car spec'd exactly the way I want it.

The only way to argue that a 612 makes any sense at all is if you plan on keeping it a long time, 15-20 years. Amortized over that period, the savings from buying used versus new are not going to be huge, yet you get the satisfaction of being the only owner.

Some people couldn't care less about being the only owner, or having a new car. For those people, I'd advise buying a 456 now and waiting 6-7 years and then buying a 612. I like old cars, but I can also see the value in a new car, and the new car "experience" is worth a premium to me.

    That's my take, anyway.

I gave it every thought and I am planning on keeping this car for a long long time. But thanks for your concern.

It seems somebody still has taste in the Ferrari community.

At least your not going for the 'Divine-Blue' treatment we saw in the Dubai 599.

That makes sense - if you keep it for many years, that factor gets largely reduced or eliminated.

congrats again - the options sound nice

In a 612, being what I would consider a classier car, I would have leather in place of all the carbon fiber, wherever it is available.

    Nice color combo.

Love the diamond pattern - that is a sweet touch.

I was thinking the same thing, but then I suddenly thought the car is too classy anyways so why not add a touch of sportyness to it cuz the 599 and F430 are too sporty. So a hint of being sporty is like spicing things up. Thanks

FWIW - carbon might "rattle" over time as it loosens from the dash proper...

leather is better, i think - the carbon trim on the dash is a bit much for my tastes, but as we all know - everyone has their own opinion.

    that's why they're called opinions...

also, if you plan, as i did, to replace the stock stereo and nav unit, you don't want to mess with the carbon trim pieces really...

    have fun -

    ciao

The car will arrive with the new Bose nav multimedia system. a $6000 option which I think it's too expensive. Are you sure the carbon will rattle in time or is it an assumption. You got me worried. Thanks

hi - please don't worry on account of my speculations....but i would be inclined to think that the stiff bits of carbon trim have less flex and give than the leather - suspension is stiff on Fcars - even a 612 in normal mode - dashes, rear panels etc seem to loosen up over time.

my 612 is solid, yet with 47k miles, every now and then a bump makes a bad noise in the dash....

i've heard stories that some older 360s (430s even), whilst they look gorgeous, sound like they're coming apart inside on rougher roads...i'd be interested to hear from owners regarding how "solid" the car remains inside...

yet - keep us up to date on how you like the Bose unit - that's why a good stereo is manditory: to turn up loud past the rattle!!! just kidding...

    cheers

I forgot to mention that Alcantara is now available for the ceiling and the floors and trunk. I will not do it for the floors or trunk but how about the ceiling. Whould it be nice or not. Dealer told me leather is better but it might be unique in Alcantara.

    Thanks
