Morning, I have just been told about an item on BaT - I have never seen a more complete /perfect set for sale, for me this is the unicorn of Schedoni luggage and Ferrari tool sets.........

Ferrari 288 GTO Luggage, Tool Kit, and Literature for sale on BaT Auctions - ending June 17 (Lot #110,835) | Bring a Trailer

A few of you will remember I worked on these cars for a long time, during the preparation I built up a far bit of knowledge about the accessories and tools etc - I even created a reference thread here on Fchat for everyone to see what was correct and original:

The Tool Kits and Accessories of the Icons... 288GTO, F40, F50 & the Enzo | FerrariChat

I have gone through every photo of this collection; its correct, its original, its complete and it carries the perfect patina.

Anyone with a 288GTO that's missing the correct or original accessories, this is an amazing opportunity!

(I am aware of who the seller is (a very respected Ferrari man in the UK), but I have no affiliation with the sale)

    cheers Mark

I could have sworn I read a lengthy post from a regular poster that seems to have now vanished, telling the OP in great detail things they already no doubt knew!

Licensed industry professionals who've paid FChat the fee to become a Sponsor are encouraged to self-promote to their heart's content, it's how business works ;)

But seriously, I've seen you promote yourself and your expertise with ancillaries and restorative work to the cars on this forum many times, in fact your 1st post reminds us that you've worked on these cars for a long time and built up a fair bit of knowledge, that's what self-promotion is, and I say Bravo to you!

I am the one who posted and withdrew the post after a client politely requested I do so.

My post pointed out certain items that are incorrect for this set as they never left the factory with any new 288 GTO, therefore, to represent the set as "correct, original" etc is misleading to the uninitiated, meanwhile, I too have no doubt the OP knows which items never left the factory with any new 288 GTO!

FWIW here's a genuine original 288 GTO manual pouch which left the factory and has stayed with the 288 GTO it belongs to from new till this day, image taken by me this morning in Newport Beach, California.

looks the same to me as the one that the seller on BaT if offering in the auction, he is also offering the burgundy leather pouch which is found with many European GTOs - so its the best of both worlds.

Yes there are a few add-ons in the auction that never came with the GTO when new - all that I covered in detail on my toolkit thread that I started it years ago.

The luggage was an option, that had limited take up in period, with less than 100 pieces originally made - its now very very sought after, especially with no name or serial number on it, as this set is.
The battery charger was a showroom option, but he has the correct one for the GTO, and the ultra rare wiring harness.
The workshop manuals never came with the car, although very desirable and in demand by GTO owners - especially original factory ones like these.
The Amalgam Collection model 288GTO car, is obviously not original to the car when factory delivered, but it is a stunning, highly detailed example that individually costs a lot of money, but can still be bought (never covered in the toolkit thread).
The brochure - period correct and very collectable - but not delivered with the car - car shows and dealerships I imagine.
The EVO magazines - well they are just what they are.

But the core parts of this auction from everything I can tell from the photos are 100% correct and original i.e. the luggage, the tool roll, the jack bag, the torch & bag, the triangle and blue case, the green light bulb tub, plus all the actual tools the came with the car originally - amazing find!

Even the owners manual, 1985 Sales & Service book are original and correct - it even has the 2 lubrication charts that have so often disintegrated over time.

I know how hard it is to find all these parts, I have gone through it, it takes years on some occasions to find that one missing part to complete a set. All I am doing is making the members aware this is out there - because going back a few years, when I need a set like this, I would have kicked myself if I missed it - remember BaT does not really get any coverage in the UK or Europe its a very USA centric platform - but unlike a car, a toolkit can be posted.

If the post that was removed contained nothing of controversy within it then why would a third party request it be removed, and why would the poster then comply, all very unusual.

They must have been very very quick to read it as well then make the request, then the post actually removed, as Fchat only gives the original poster a 10 min or so window of opportunity to make changes?

Or is it a case of sponsors getting additional privileges?

All interesting to know for us mere mortals.....I have a few old redundant posts I would love to have wiped.
