I found a local skatepark w a wood bowl and a 1/2 pipe, its a little scruffy but fun and its good aerobic excercise and fun Trying to get in shape for ski season so this definately helps w balance & aerobic health Found out I can help some underpriveledged kids there too w new skateboards & pads so thats good had my first fall knocked the air out of me for a second and inspired me to buy pads & a helmet LOL Gonna try kite surfing one of these days too
skateboarding is much more fun Got to get more speed for the bowl, maybe a mini turbine on my board LOL
One of these days after I become notorious over there Maybe I'll start my own skate team & start manufacturing boards
skateboarding is so much fun.... except when you get hurt!!! it's all worth it when you land something you didn't think you can do. here are a few of my skateboard injuries growing up and a few reasons why i don't skate anymore. stay safe out there guys, the concrete is not forgiving!!! Yea verily. Believe him on that one. One of my editors just dropped off the side of a pool the other day. As he said, he turned, but the board didn't. 10 foot drop. Broken toe, but no punctured lung or cracked ribs as he feared. He wears a full set of pads and he was still pretty banged up.
I just found carbon fiber skate decks and this wild thing http://onshoreboards.com/files/Impala_Detail_010.jpg Also going to get my motorcycle armor, some nice riding shoes, and some better gloves Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've been itching to do this for the past few years. Hmmm, always wanted to just order up some stuff from blankdecks.com or similar to give it a shot... again. But it has been a good twenty years.
I'm not doing casts I may get laughed at but I'm not going to the hospital Image Unavailable, Please Login
Some of mine. The old ones are for show, but I skate the yellow Street Skate and the Ferrari board (when it's not snowing). Image Unavailable, Please Login
Your next step is to get off of four wheels and on to two! Castor boards need the balance of the skateboard and continuous movement, but you never need to push off even up hill. http://www.ripstikusa.com/
I think mine are from Dainese, the motorcycle gear guys, just check out a motocross site I got some nice Puma Ducati booties for motorcycle riding, lots of the bike stuff is good for skating too as you have to deal w falls on asphalt on both except in a skatepark you dont get run over by a car after you fall off
I did freestyle in junior high, but we hung out with the skaters at the same places. I finally broke down and bought a Haro freestyle bike a couple years ago. I dont ride it much, it actually sucks compared to my old Haro FST from the late 80s. The new one is heavy and brakes dont bite. The two things you need for freestyle are light and precise brakes. Ill find some old pics and post them.
Thats why I have a Dk Fury, 16 pounds of pure insanity, fish-tailing on that thing is effort-less, and the brakes are amazing!
