....was thinkin 3mm or 5mm do you know wether the car can take these without the need for longer studs???????

I know i read to put bigger spacers on to aid handling but to be honest i havent noticed any probs on mine..EXEPT for not looking quite right!

You would need a keen eye to notice a 3-5mm difference - some tyre brands vary more than that for the same stated size. A proper set of 15 to 25mm spacers and bolts is the way to go IMO.

Did you need to change the lugs to longer ones?

Eh... sorry me are foreigner.. ;-) Lugs ??
    You mean bolts ?

The front plate comes with longer bolts.
The rear is a bolt on plate.
You can screw it on with your old bolts and use the new ones for your wheel.

Sorry... if you meant somethings else...

    HI

My 348 gtb Speciale has spacers as 'standard' I have only looked at the back ones and they are approx 25mm with longer bolts. Parked next to a standard 348 you can tell the difference. As for handling I can not tell as mine have always had the wider track.

All I can say is that with lower than specified pressures (see another thread), Dunlops (cos they were cheaper) on the fornt and the wider track mine handles well even down bumpy back roads.

It handles really well on track days

Just put on 25mm rear spacers from Hill Engineering on mine last week (157.95 British pounds). Noticeable looks and handling.

Why should it be illegal ?
The tires stay under the bodywork.
If they would only be 1mm out of the bodywork I would take them off.
Hate to have a "The Fast And The Furious" look. ;-)

    Hi.......

Just a few comments about wheel spacers:

    1) Recent article [SCCA SportsCar Magazine (?)] made it clear that spacers should not be a part of "suspension modifications" on a competition car.

Same advice for high performance street machines ?? Comments ??

    2) Use of spacers decreases the length of wheel bolt or nut engagment.

Make sure that you can engage enough threads to keep the wheels on the vehicle in hard corners. Engineers ?? Be sure to torque the bolts or nuts evenly around the hub.

    1. Ferrari themselves added 25mm to the offset of the rear wheels on the later models - IMO this indicates a spacer up to and including 25mm is acceptable regarding bearing loads etc.

    2. Yes, you would have to be crazy to try and use the original bolts with spacers. Quality custom spacers are supplied with new bolts to suit.

Good advice about bolt torque. I was shown this a long time ago when working on Corvettes - loading all the torque on one bolt at a time was a sure-fire way of warping a brake disc.

The 25mm wheel spacers I bought were the type "2" spacers. They came with a set of lugs to bolt the spacer onto the hub. Then you bold your wheels to the spacer using your lugs. The spacer is drilled and steel threaded inserts are added for strength to bolt your wheels to.

One item that i bought and found very usefull from the Hill company, was the wheel location/hanger stud. This is hand screwed into the bolt hole on the car, also passing through the spacer. This makes offering the wheel which in my case has bigger tyers on, easyer to bolt on to the car. Becourse you dont have to hold the bloody wheel with one hand and try to locate the bolt into the hole, thats if the bloody spacer does not slip from its inline position:( With This device once its screwed in simply hang the wheel on it and put ya bolts in.Rcomended.

I think we should ban Chaa from the classics section until he has added the 348 slats to the side of his 355.

Then he will be eligible to post here.
