I know this sounds trivial. Maybe the most trivial thing imaginable. But I am really bothered by the fact that I had to go and buy a pair of reading glasses. I have put this off for a few years because I just couldn't bring myself to admit that I needed them. The final straw came last night when after buying a new book at the local bookstore, I sat down in my chair, opened the book, and couldn't get past the first two pages when it became obvious that my arms have suddenly become too damn short. If I pushed the book out to the limit of my now stubby arms, the print became clear.......yet somehow, too small to actually read! How can I be falling apart so soon? What's next.....knee replacement.......heart transplant..........adult diapers???? I am sullen and despondent. I guess I will go and read my new book with my new longer arms (read: goofy glasses) I hate getting old.
My comments and a tip! When was the last time you had a professional eye exam? Go get a good exam, i.e.: stay away from the chain stores (four eyes, site for sore eyes, etc). A cheap eye exam is usually always in line with the calibur of equipment that the doctor will use. I buy my frames off the cheap reading glass rack. As long as they have screws or a nylon thread base, most any dispenser can cut the lense! My last two pair of glasses (clear and sunglass tinted) was from Dr. D's rack at about fifteen bucks. A similar frame at an eye shop ran about $75.00! I had WalMart cut the lenses per the prescription of an extremely high end eye doctor. There are a ton of ways to skin a cat when it comes to saving big bucks on eye glasses!
I know you guys are going to laugh at me for saying this. But I'm bothered by the fact that I turn 20 in about a month and a half. I'm a kid at heart and always will be, how can I not even be a teenager anymore?!
I know how you're feeling. I'm 17 and already starting to feel like an old b**tard. High school has flown by and here comes college. It's hard to fully grasp the fact that this Summer is going to be my last *real* Summer vacation. I remember when I was 10 and a month seemed like a long time. Now the years seem to come and go like I'm time traveling.
I'm 21 and it seams old, but I still act and feel as I did when I was like 17, but before I know it I'll be loosing my hair. NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! But hey, their's always hair plugs/grafting
But contemplate the alternative. Only if you're a physicist. (If you haven't done your Nobel Prize work by 30, you probably never will.) That was the most depressing thing about Star Trek - Next Generation: It's the 24th Century ... and they still can't cure baldness.
Brandon, look at the bright side. You're no longer a teenager, but you're still not old enough to drink legally. Talk about a sucky situation. I remember turing 20 as about the most worthless birthday of all time. Of course, now that I'm 49, I might re-consider that opinion. Dave
I wear bifocal contacts with no problem. Seeing an occasional blind person crossing the street with their cane tends to put things in perspective for me when I complain about needing corrective vision...
Thanks guys.....I feel soooooo much better!! I'll be pooping my pants, unable to pee, with a limp rocket, AND goofy glasses GREAT!!!
