Finished doing the belts, tensioners and water pump on my '77 308 GTB. Got the two bearings and the seal from McMaster-Carr for $65 delivered versus $300 = $700 for a range of "replacement" pumps. Belts and tensioners from Partsource ( a big shout out to Geoff - Thank You for the great service).

All went well except the block drain plug is seeping. New copper washer is on it but still it seeps. I know I could be dealing with much worse after effects but its such a dumb little problem! It'll get fixed but it really shouldn't be leaking to begin with.

    Like I said; just venting.

I believe it is the plug which is venting. ;-).

Put a little schmutz on the threads and it will be fine. SCHUMUTZ, the preferred sealent of Ferrari owners everywhere.

That's an easy fix. It could be a lot worse... You could have messed up the cam timing!

I know; it could be much worse but wouldn't it be nice if everything worked out nicely at least once :)

And Mr. White. Do I get SCHUMUTZ at a Mercedes dealer? ;)
