I'm sure we've all had to justify our extravagant purchases to many people, be they ourselves, our other halves, parents, colleagues or friends.

What reasons do you give to each of them?

Promised myself a Ferrari at the time I turned thirty. Told the wife to be (at the time) to put the wedding off a year, told her the car was a dream that I had to fulfill. By putting the wedding off I was able to pay for the car in cash, no credit needed. She agreed to it. Parents was all for me getting the car. No excuses needed to really. Was then able to save for the wedding.

Promised myself I'd buy one when I sat in the just released 348 at the motor show when I was 19.
    15 years later I did it :)

My philosophy is that if I die and my bank account is in credit then I haven't made the most of things. Get it spent :)

As my dad always says "It's better than spending your money on drugs"

I bought one because all Ferrari's IMHO look and sound fantastic. I am on the F-car ladder now and already planning the next :D

As my dad said to my mum when I showed them my car for the first time:

"don't ask him why he bought it, ask him if he can afford it!"

Soon after we got married, my wife told me I would never get a Ferrari as long as we were married.

    She's now my ex-wife and I have a Ferrari.

How do I justify owning it? I makes me feel good!!!

Very easy - Life is too short, if you want one, get one.

As another F-Chatter once said, "on your death bed the only things you regret are the things you didn't do".

Had no one yet (family & friends) questioning my sanity on buying one, and now upgrading, guess that's cause they're happy for me. It's the people who ask you to justify it, they aren't your mates, thus to them - who gives a f.ck - but Ken, know where you're coming from

I justifed it by saying I'd sell my 911, buy an old Volvo estate, save on petrol, insurance etc and then it would be just about affordable and I would be a happy and attentive husband. So I got the 355. Just couldn't find a Volvo anywhere so I had to keep the 911;) I was honestly going to sell it. Still, all worked out ok in the end, although I am poor now:D
