Thanks for posting that, Scott... I wasn't aware that Brian had weighed in on the matter.

I'll be changing mine soon... When I bought it, it had K&N installed... I'll gladly go back to the paper filters if they do a better job with dust...

I would be hard to describe how much dust we're talking about here... easily 100X more than you'll see in San Antonio.

I use the K&N cleaner kit. It works well.

I had maf problems on my old e46 m3 that proved to be filter oil. Never could get the cleaning and reoiling right.

    Went back to stock.

The 348 came with, and I chucked them.

I don't know why people think they are better filters: more airflow requires less restriction. All the aftermarket oiled filters are very poor at the smallest particulate sizes.

Still, i don't live in a dusty area, so if I'd known how to clean and reoil them properly, I'd probably still be running them.

Same here. I'm not too terribly concerned about the filtration as I know of at least one person who has run them in daily drivers and off-road vehicles and has gone well over 100K miles with no issues whatsoever.

The MAF thing, on the other hand...ehhhh.
