He, He, He, He (That's me giggling with delight!) My daughter turns 5 next week, and I have signed her up for her first karting lessons at Adam's Tracks in Riverside. I'm really looking forward to this, and so is she. Look out Danica Patrick... Dom
I taking my daughter, age 12, to Jim Halls Kart Racing School at the end of the month. I don't think she's totally jazzed, but hopefully it will be a good experience. I told my daughter she could be the next Danica and she said, who? You never know, I'm not one to push, but I think she should try everything once, well almost everything. Let us know what your daughter thinks afterwards. Have fun!
I'm sponsoring the son of an ex Indy racer He is running 1/4 midgets, they are safer than karts because they come w full cages & harnesses
I let my daughter drive a golf cart when she was 6. She headed towards a tree and yelled...lookout tree. Needless to say the tree didn't move. Oh well, lesson learned.
Danica who? Your daughters have about the same chance as winning as her, at this point. Seriously, good luck and have fun. We were at the Milwaukee Mile last weekend and karts happened to be running. My 3 y.o. saw them and immediately wanted to do it. Hopefully the interest will stay until next year, he's still talking about it.
In a couple of weeks, Bobafet will have an 80cc Invader clutch kart for sale. It's a great kart for a kid between 4'0" - 5'0" / 65-100 pounds. It turns about 55MPH with a 60 pound driver and is great condition plus a red kids driver's suit!
My girlfriend used to race 1/4 midgets until she got too old, about two years ago. She might race full-sized cars next summer. I'm not sure what class, but it will just be local short track oval racing. I've always wanted to drive a shifter cart. Maybe I should buy a chassis and put my 250cc 2-stroke motocross bike motor in it? That would be scary fast. I know even the 80cc shifter carts haul balls.
That is fantastic Dom! If only my parents (or I had known as well for that matter) that I wanted to be a race car driver at that age...imagine how different things would have been now! I wish I could go back in time to change that.
My daughter, who has just turned 12, has been karting now for about 6 months and loves it, we go every weekend that we can. She drives a 100cc Rotax Junior and I drive a 250cc Italcorse kart. Loads of fun but very hot here in the tropics. Have fun!
Thanks guys. I had never heard of the 1/4 midgets before. looks interesting as well. I did a quick web search and noticed that there is a club based out of pomona (about 1 hour away from me). May have to check that out as well. I had to reschedule her kart day, unfortunately, so it won't happen until Nov 5. It seems like so far away. I can't wait. Dom
