Right, who's in? I need to know pronto...this is for Wed. 15th Sept. 7.30pm Here's a tentative list: Dan Faisal Rich Dom? (Rich's friend) Matt Pete John Nitis Nizam? April? David Eblovi Wilfred Yat-Pang Au (Wilfred's nephew) Art? Vincent? Ben Cannon? Bryan Shisler (friend of Faisal's) I am sure I have left out some people...please let me know if you are interested. We have a maximum of 20 spots.
Not to put a turd in the punchbowl, but I did the indoor track with carbie and others in S.CA a couple of weeks ago. The company was a blast, but the karting was ho-hum, slow and expensive ($25 for 12 laps). If you guys really like the karts, please look into getting into track sprint karts. It would be awesome if a bunch of N.CA FChatters did this and we met at the track (Infineon, Atwater, Stockton, Prarie City). I had the new 125cc's out today and I tell you, it's a flipp'en rush! I stepped up from the 100cc (both are great fun) and I feel like a kid again!! Vincent went out with Art and I a couple of months ago and he can tell you, it's a blast. I can't invite everyone to the Atwater,CA track at once, but I would certainly line up a few people at a time to come out. I have two 125's and one 100cc kart and would like to share the experience for those that may be serious about getting into it. Again, please don't take offense of this post. Once you get in a fast kart, that will be the only thing you will want to drive! Email replies welcome. Please send to [email protected].
Peter, I have been in a fast kart numerous times. My friends have shifter karts, and I have spent a whole day in a Tony Kart that one of them has. It was fun. But here's the aspects I don't like. Cost - several thousand dollars for kart, spares, track time Time - it's at least half a day Maintenance - rebuild every season, replacement cost of bent pieces, etc. Hassle - keep track of tools, parts, mechanics, etc. Ancillary costs - trailer or van, accessories, meals, lodging, etc. At a minimum, fuel for the tow vehicle to get you to the track and back. If you rent a trailer, there's more expenses. I have a motorcycle and two nice cars. I don't have time to enjoy those as much as I want, and their expenses add up. I have a thousand other interests - planes, traveling, computers, design, etc., etc. To commit more time to karting on top of all this is impossible. The way we do it, we arrive and drive. It's not a whole lot of time, but it's enough. Annual costs are probably less than half of what they would be if we were to own karts ourselves. The savings in hassle and time are far, far more. And they do have decent timing equipment so we can track improvements in our time. For most of us, Sears Point is the nearest outdoor track that accommodates private owners. That is simply too far to be practical on a weekday. Besides, my Lotus is pretty much a go-kart for the street. I drove an M5 yesterday and although it was faster, it felt rubbery in comparison. For those considering a go-kart, I highly recommend a Lotus Elise--you will have to pay over list to get it in a reasonable timeframe, but I promise you, it's worth it! All that said, I hope to see you or Art at Atwater or one of the other tracks at some point.

You know it baby! Peter- I would love the oppertunity to drive the 'real' karts, I took an 80cc around a parking lot about a year ago, and got bit. I don't want to touch Art's 125cc shifter yet, that thing scares me! Let's put a weekend to gether. Faisal?

We just need to meet there on a Sat or Sunday when there is not a race. Please visit www.elite.net/akc to see the track and race schedule.
Hey Peter, quit hijacking the thread!!!! OK folks, just made the reservation. We are going to be on the track with elevation change (I think it's track 2). Please try to bring exact change or at least $20's tomorrow, as I run out of change pretty quickly. The place just emailed me to remind everyone to bring their driver's license as well. So please do. Ben you going to show up in time to help me out???? Looking forward to meeting up!
