Does this mean that the rest of the country gets to pay increased insurance premiums so that the residents of south Florida can rebuild in a KNOWN HURRICANE ZONE for the 847th time within the past 10 years alone?????????

40 minutes ago it was dam scarey, lights are flickering but still on

I can usually see for dozens of miles from here. Now I can barely see the ground.

Its scarey, I imagine the guys out there in the Coast Guard, must be in for quite a ride

    sh*t! sh*t! sh*t!
Damn, South Fl got off the hook relatively easy....It's already strenghthen to a Cat 2 -100 mph winds and once again were in the middle of the projected path.
We just went through this crap 2 months ago!
This sucks! Screw it...I'm staying no matter what happens. I hate Katrina's.

Good thinking, Dude if what I saw last night was a Cat 1 I want no part of a Cat 5

Last night in the middle of the Hurricane I opened my sliding door to my terrace to close the last little bit of the Hurricane blinds & I could feel the suction of the storm, I was worried 1 of my cats might get sucked out so I shut it quick & put a big azz vise on it so it wouldnt open

Last night was basically like looking into a cold wet windy HELLL, no kidding

Some scientist was saying they should stop calling the Cat 1 a minor Hurricane because theres no such thing

Heres my idea for renaming Hurricane categories

    Cat 1- Really Bad Hurricane

Cat 2- Really Really Bad Hurricane

    Cat 3- Hiroshima

    Cat 4- Nagasaki

Cat 5- Run for your freaking life

Actually, insurance premiums are levelled out across the states because of natural disasters like this. Even in El Paso, Texas, far away from such a beached disaster, pays up a premium for just being within so much reach of the hurricaine to level out the costs to a reasonable amount.

Man, these guys REALLY don't have much of a way to predict the paths of these monsters. Just the other day it looked like it was going up the Eastern seaboard. But NO! Wrong!

Let's see if us in New Orleans can dodge yet another bullet. Especially because it might become a Cat 4. I hate this crap every year...although I didn't hate it when I 'evacuated' to Vegas just a month after turning 21 a few years ago :)

Yeah, the 11AM update had it centered right at us, but on the 5PM udpate they moved it west...It looks like now they have it hitting around Pascagoula, MS. No offense to anyone in MS, but I hope it hits there instead of here, we've had our share already!

Not looking good for New Orleans right now...considering the whole city is AT or BELOW sea level...Imagine what a 15 foot storm surge would do to a city at sea level...They currently use pumps to pump at the water when it rains,
    No electricity = No pumps
15 foot storm surge at -2 foot sea level = 17 feet of water

I'm guessing that if landfall becomes eminant there, they will have to evacuate that whole city...and fast..

Man! Fox News is the best. From behind, they have been honing in for the last twenty minutes (off and on) on a tall, leggy blond with huge tits loading a flat bed truck.

The HYW management in 'Nawlins is insane! I'm watching stopped traffic with three cars avery 30 seconds coming the other way! Why don't they open the other side of the HWY to the same exit direction? There is some seriously poor planning in this city!

LOL. This is the improved plan because there were big problems with traffic last time.

10:25PM PST: I just heard that 'Nawlins told all their EMT people to get their butts in a shelter. I guess there will be no hero's on the street during the storm.

Anyone on the street will simply perish. No questions asked.

Initially evacuated to Mississippi last night to watch where this was headed. Today evacuated to Ft. Worth, TX

Good to hear your out of harms way...Were riding it out but being on the edge of FL, were in a total different situation...Were only expected to have Cat 1 force winds and 10 foot max storm surge. The wind has started to pick up here...I can't imagine what it must be like in LA, MS, and AL. It's a terrible, terrible storm and just hope for the best all of you all.
