Is it worth attending? driving from Austin? thinking about taking my son. he's been to Amelia Island last year. lots of cars? lots of exotics? just curious... the website is a bit sparse for pics! thanks!
It's a very nice show Mike, at Lakewood Yacht Club, also includes vintage boats, and most years an entertaining auction. Tends towards vintage over exotics maybe but well supported by our FCA group down here.. Then, go for a hamburger at Tookie's, and see the dock amusements on the Kemah Boardwalk, depending on his age.
Its a great show. Its in my small town called Seabrook, TX. I've been here since 1986. The show gets better each year. It is in fact, more classics than exotics but your never know what will turn up there. You must get a burger at Tookies, that is a MUST and it is in walking distance since there will be traffic everywhere. I met Wayne Carini last year as he was judging and he sold 3 out of 4 of his cars at the auction. I had a family member buy 9 cars/trucks at the auction, good times. Half the time I stood in the back with Wayne drinking cold beer. It should be good times, it usually is.
Thanks for the replies! I've got some great pics from Amelia... My son with: Wayne carini, David Hobbs, CEO of Lamborghini, and Barry Meguir ( we got interviewed and were on Car Crazy!) I think we'll have to attend! FChat hook up?? (Purely platonically!!!)
Be glad to come down and see the show.....makes for a nice weekend jaunt. Gilhooleys Oyster bar is another real local dive place. All cash and kids not allowed. How old is your son?
Bubba, Small correction. Kids are allowed, but if he is bringing the Kiddos, no need to got to Gilhooleys in San Leon. Kemah Boardwalk should be right for a family setting or Tookies.
It's a fantastic event and fun for the whole family, I haven't attended in several years and that's one thing I do miss about Houston. Sent from my TRS-80 using Tapatalk
Either day is fine, is there going to be an Auction associated with it this year! That is the main "live entertainment" IMO. The cars on display are the same both days, obviously.
It's a fun show! My highlight is from 2005 when I got to meet and take a pic with Sir Sterling Moss! Made my year!
I am bringing and showing my 308. I am a Houston native, living in Alabama, and I just took a job and moving to San Antonio....looking forward to getting back to Texas! Mine is the silver 308, stop by and i would like to know about the car scene in San Antonio, Austin, and Houston...been gone for 7 years... Also looking for to hitting the "Devils Backbone" in the F or our Mini.....
You can get tickets online for $25 versus $35 at the gate. The boats are fantastic. the cars are amazing. Here is a a pic of me and Keith Martin a couple of years back when he stopped by my 1970 Volvo P1800 and looked at it for an eternity and then he said....what a beautiful car...should have never sold mine.
