    PHILADELPHIA – A Taiwanese music student was tearing her hair out Thursday after accidentally leaving her extremely rare $172,000 violin on a bus between Boston and Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Daily News reported.

    MuChen Hsieh, 19, who is studying at the New England Conservatory in Boston, left the instrument in an overhead compartment by mistake when she got off the bus in Philadelphia on Tuesday night, Philadelphia Police Lt. John Walker told the newspaper.

    The violin, made in 1835 by Vincenzo Jorio in Naples, Italy, was loaned to Hsieh by the Chi Mei Culture Foundation in Taiwan, Walker said, adding that the teenager would probably have to return home if she does not recover the instrument.

    "She made frantic calls to the company to check the bus, and it wasn't there," he said. "We believe that somebody may have grabbed the item without realizing its value."
