Keep my 3.2 mondial cab or upgrade to a 348 spider?

    Hello all,

    I own a 1986 3.2 mondial cabriolet red/black with 55,000 miles, did an engine out major service last spring and due to medical issues have only driven it about 400 miles since. I paid only $25,000 for it and think its worth in the low to mid 30's.....I own it free and clear....

    my original goal was to have one "modern" ferrari (my mondial) and one classic ferrari, most likely a 250 GTE 2+2 or 330 GT 2+2, which several years ago were affordable in the $25-50K range. Before I bought my mondial I had the chance to buy a 4-headlight 330 GT 2+2 in absolute stunning condition for $32K, now these cars seem to be in the $60-75K range and probably not coming down anytime soon.....

    then I started thinking that two ferraris means double the service costs, etc. etc. -

    so my thoughts moved to....what about upgrading to a 348 spider and just have one ferrari....I acutally like the exterior/interior more than a 355....they seem to be had now for $55-$70K.....I am not familiar with maintainance on the 348 and I know there are some issues.....

    so the big question is.....is it worth it selling my mondial for say $33K and financing a 348 spider, or just be happy with the mondial which is in excellent condition and I still really enjoy...

    any thoughts would be appreciated....

    I would do it! The later 348s seem to be nice cars. The spiders are beautiful in my opinion....a real head turner. You have my blessing!

    Just my 2 cents:

    You now have the Mondial 3.2 right where you want it. Enjoy it!

    Of course the 348 spider is a superb car with a great engine...

    Heck, sell the Mondial 3.2, get a Mondial t 3.4 cabrio and have it all.

    Keep the Mondial. Much more useable, great GT car. And even better, its paid for. :D

    Debt bad, Ferrari good.

    If you just had a major service done I'd keep it for atleast the summer and then maybe consider getting a 348 in a year or two. Just my opinion, do whatever feels right for you though.
