Any of you guys ever hit the Kellers at Northwest Highway & Abrams Rd in Dallas on Saturdays? I live by White Rock Lake and was coming home from a Saturday drive in my 360 and noticed a yellow convertible Lamborghini in the lot, in addition to a lot of American Muscle Cars new & old. I pulled in to check it out and ended up hanging out for an hour or so. Alot of cool cars, cold beer and great burgers.
I have been going there for 20 years. Usually lots of cool stuff. The bear is CHEAP and served out of a galvanized trough. The food is guilt-full goodness. Very rarely have i seen exotics. There was a Maser GT there one night...no one knew what the heck it was. I have pictures of a restored and lifted Unimog that was there one night.
May Allah have mercy upon him, and the fleas of a thousand camels nest in his nether regions.........
Hmmm, apparently somebody hijacked my thread with some propaganda! Back on topic... there are not alot of exotics at Kellers, but when one shows up they really dig it! I was answering questions and people were taking alot of pictures. It was fun, plus it is literally 5 minutes from my house!
Oh, Yogi, what happened to get you liquored-up and dancing on one of WILLIAM H's poles?.........Must be about those Daddy issues.
the bear is where it's at man. The beer is fairly cheap as well. If I was using my ipad that would have read "the faberge eggs are cheap and served out of a galactic space transport."
The only times we hit Keller's was on the way home from the vet's. They are very dog-friendly and the waitresses know that dog people are great tippers! Our Shih Tzu are very fond of tomatoes. When we come in, if we have the same waitress and tell her that our dog wants extra tomatoes on his burger, he gets 3 slices of tomatoes and she gets a $3 tip! The dog is very happy and actually eats the tomatoes first and the burger second. The waitress is also very happy when she gets her tip! So win-win all around.
Dear sweet Godmother.... How is it in 20+ years of burger eatin' I have never seen you there!? Next time call me, I live about 2 minutes away from there. I bet I know who the vet is
Rare to ever see Prancing Horses at "Kellers" on Northwest Highway. Its really a muscle car & chopper bike crowd. Most of the muscle cars show up on Saturday nights beginning about 8pm. By 9:30pm on Saturdays, the entire back lot is full of muscle cars. Sometimes over 75 cars. Most had been entered in local car shows earlier in the day and make "Kellers" the last stop of the night. Dallas Police do not seem to take much interest in the festivities on Saturday nights. Burnouts fairly common when people leave the parking lot. The crowd is OK on Saturday nights depite the cheap beer. Alot of families show up. Rarely see gang-bangers/thugs. The street racer crowd does make regular appareances toward the end of the night.
Several years ago, I took the 330 2+2 there on a cool fall night and paid $5 to park in the hotrod/musclecar lot north of the drive-in service areas. The car was a sensation...I got plenty of lookers and all kinds of questions. I've been wanting to take the 308 on a similar evening but procrastiation on getting the engine compartment looking good has kept me back...that's the first thing these guys want to see and talk about. We've been to the drive-in serving area a couple of times in both cars and certainly weren't insconpicuous.
O stopped by there with my 308 back when I had it...late one Sunday afternoon immediately after I had just left the All British (& some others) Day at White Rock Lake. There wasn't hardly much of a crowd. I hung around for a beer, checked out a couple of other cars, then just quietly left. I guess I should have hit there the Saturday night before the show. I have heard of good car crowds there, but back in the late '80's / early '90's, all the action was down over off NW Hwy at was then known as Fenders! We'd buzz by the Keller's on Harry Hines, but it was usually except a biker crowd. Guess I'll have to hit the other Keller's up one Saturday night. Side note: There is a Forest Lane Cruise Reunion planned for Saturday, June 4th! You can find it on Facebook!
wow...I used to go to Fenders! Then we would go to Manana to watch the street racing. Saw a few people lose their lives out there. That was about the time Fenders met it's demise.
