    Best quote .." You would have to sprout wings to catch him"! I forgot what race it was I was watching as a horse was leading about 15 lengths down the home stretch.


    Have great memories of my father trying to make the pick six at Del Mar . My father and brother would leave from West Los Angeles . One in the front seat and the other in the back, both with binoculars looking out for cops. This was about 30 years ago when traffic was pretty decent on the 405 on a Saturday.

    Santa Anita race-caller Trevor Denman often says, "You’d have to sprout wings to catch him" as part of his race-call repertoire when a horse opens up a big lead coming home. All the callers have different styles. I don't think Denman has ever called a Derby though. Chic Anderson & Dave Johnson are ABC/NBC Derby legends.

    Baffert must be turning cartwheels, although publicly down-playing his joy.

    Victor can stay out of trouble going round the Clubhouse Turn (where most Derbies are lost) and be in position by the Track Kitchen (where most Derbies are won).

    The 8-hole for Dortmund is not bad either.

    This is a tough choice. Wide open race to pick a winner. Going to just have fun and bet the big long shot's across the board. 3,4,9,13,19,20. Figure $100 to win and have a good laugh at the stretch. What a day, Derby, Fight, and the Clippers game..Good luck everyone.
