Greetings, Kessler has a car I'm interested in, and a search of the archives popped up very little info? Anybody have any experience good/bad indifferent, or anything else I should be aware of before I leap? (An independent PPI is a must in any case). PM is fine. Thanks <cross posted in the Florida Section>
I have never bought a car from him but all I can tell you his he has been in the Ferrari business for atleast 30 years. He had a showroom on East 58-59th street in Manhattan for years and later moved down here to south florida. I saw the introduction of the 308 GTS at his manhattan showroon in 1978.
Please tell me where he is! When I was a reporter for the NY Post I did a story on one of the first F50s to land on US soil. It was at his small showroom on the East side, off 1st Avenue if I remember correctly. The story was a smash and he and I became friends. He left NYC and I was never able to track him down. Because of that story I decided to leave the Post and write seriously. This decision resulted in the novel that I just published. Where is his dealership? I always said I wanted to buy my first Ferrari from him but I lost hope after he left Gotham. As for his charracter as a man and a business owner, he's solid from the little I saw and knew. He loves the cars and has been around them for a long time. He always seemed to be able to locate a car, new or used, if he needed one. But as always you should do your homework. Many, many thanks. Forza, Cavallini P.S. Found his site. Many thanks for this thread. I had completely forgotten about him and given up hope of buying my first from him. Truly seredipitous. I hope he gives you a good deal and a great car.
I am pretty sure his NY showroom was on 34th between 1st and 2nd. When I was 16, in the early eighties, I was doing volunteer work at University Hospital on 1st and 34th. I used to walk in there once a week and oogle at everything on the floor. They were always very nice to me.
