It's getting to be about time to replace the original clutch in my 360CS F1 gearbox and I'm considering going with the Hi Tech Exotic kevlar clutch. My fellow Lamborghini owners rave about their kevlar clutches, and I've really not heard anything bad about them in all the lambo reviews.

But there are very few mentions of Hi Tech on this forum, particularly for the 360 F1 box.
Does anyone here have first hand, personal experience with the Hi Tech Kevlar clutches in a 360 F1 box? Thoughts?

I have searched the forum and found only a handful of mentions, all quite old so I figure it would be a good idea to revisit this topic in 2018.

    Thanks!

I (re)searched this topic of a kevlar clutch in an F1 and found a few bits of info. It seemed that some people had good experiences while others had not. I read that having Kevlar on one side and Ceramic on the other side was a better option due to better heat dissipation. Also read that after installation it was tricky getting the ECU (I think?) settings configured correctly.

FWIW, I called Ferrari of Atlanta, Houston, and LA and they all told me they would not recommend a kevlar clutch for an F1 car. But that might not be surprising since they would be more likely to stick with OEM.

What I concluded from the limited information I had was that it was too much of a risk for seemingly little benefit, though I would be interested to hear more from others.

I doubt the clutches have changed that much in the past couple of years. Silent is correct in that those that put one in an F1 were had issues; but they all had issues and switched back. There were a few who claimed success with a stick and I suspect that could have worked. Given that takeup is so different for Kevlar and the TCU can't be changed in that way, I wouldn't even consider one for a CS.

Agreed. I would not consider one for an F1, but my car is a stick. Anyone have an update?

Turns out I've only worn my CS F1 clutch 2% in 2000 miles of driving so I haven't yet had to swap them out. I basically decided to go with stock for this car and will be doing the Hi Tech clutch for my manual murcielago when it comes due.

I did a kevlar clutch from Clutch Masters in CA on my 09 F1 Gran Turismo and have 6K miles on it so far. I would say it performs flawlessly in mine. Prices from Clutch Masters were great too.
