    That's fun!

I'm inspired to try something like that. I'd like to go a little more retro though. Any retro examples out there?

If you like it, that's all that matters!

I've never much gone for that sort of thing re cars or whatever though I admit I do occasionally wear a "Norton" (Motorcycle) hat. The only thing I own that says "Ferrari" on it or has a Ferrari logo is my 328. :)

Dont have the option of using or even finding an original Ferrari key body, very cool way to go. But what are the dimensions and thickness.

Perfect thank you. I am making molds to cast other versions and use different colors. I think a Yellow one would look good. I have a friend that wants a similar part for his Porsche.

If someone would offer them in each color Ferari used to paint a car, AND for a reasonable price, you could make a killing.

Being here in Europe I might be able to find aluminum blanks for next to nothing. I keep meaning to check but forget :(

I got a (nasty :D) RED one that is going to be Marrone MET to match the car here shortly.

For a reasonable price I'd love a blank one as I could use touch up paint to get an exact match

    three part kit?
Clamshell A with the key tang groove cut, Clamshell B and then the tie pin horsey :)

Exactly, I am thinking 4 Plastic parts, a hollowed out black plastic body (1) with a rectangular thru hole to insert a cut key, then fill with epoxy. A front cover with inset area for horse (2) or an alternate shield (3). And a plane back cover (4). Covers would be ready to finish to the desired color and glue into place. Key blanks and inserts would be separate or user suppled.

I make it a priority to check on key blanks the NEXT weekend. Got another B-Day to attend this weekend.

    Sorry.

They all look very cool. Amazing what a little work can do. I guess I'm old school as I only have the original folding keys for my car.

The body is made out of epoxy putty. Flattened out a mixed sheet of epoxy putty. The key blank is an Ilco H61VR with the edges trimmed off and placed into the epoxy to fit well inside the finished profile. Trimmed the putty to the general shape with a knife and allowed it cure (about 20 min) then sanded the body to final form. The shields were done in Sculpey polymer clay to match the body profile, and the tie tack pressed into one side. Both shields were heated in an oven to harden. The backs of each were sanded flat and the epoxied to the body along with the tie tack. The whole project took an a couple of hours not counting cure time. I have planed to make another to the correct size and shape, then make a silicon mold of the parts to create additional copies in Alumilite casting plastic.

I like the idea but I am a little concerned the extra weight could make my 2v that much slower than a QV? :)

Someone should start a new contest: How many cavallinos on Mike's 308 and associated accoutrements?

    Cheers, Mike!
