    Hey,

This assumes you've tried a can of air etc....Quoted from this months Macworld:

Don't blame me if it goes wrong however!.... [I may have to try this as my old "white" keyboard is a borderline health hazard......]

    Cheers,
    Ian

I don't have a Mac or a white computer, but a friend uses a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on his, and said to use it lightly. Much safer than the dishwasher :D

I do this all the time at work. It pisses the secretaries off when it's lunch time and I haven't emptied the dishwasher yet though.
Caution just make sure you turn the heat drying cycle off and let them dry for a couple days before plugging them in.

edit: I don't skip to the rinse cycle and I add detergent. Again just refrain from using the heated drying cycle.

    Sweet! Now, what about laptops?

The whole laptop or just the keyboard? I wouldn't put a laptop in the dishwasher, but I can't see why you can't put a keyboard in it... Technically you could put the laptop in, so long as you removed all of the batteries. (CMOS and Main battery) You'd have to wait a week for it to dry out though an it (knock on wood) should work. Depending on how much calcium built up on the system board. Again I wouldn't try it.

The best way to clean a keyboard, however, I'd advise you to remove any circuit boards (5 minutes with a normal screwdriver) before doing so. DO NOT DO THIS WITH A LAPTOP!!!
