Keys locked in Car

I don't know if a slim jim will work, the door lock uses two rods that move in a linear fashion vs up/down. at least that's the way it is on my Mondi.

 

Get another set of keys made once you get inside. Never understood that...I always have at least two and sometime as many as four sets of keys for every car I have owned.

 

i'm not familiar with the mondial locking mechanism, but try asking a locksmith, if it is possible to pick the lock first.
that way you can avoid using a slim jim.

i've seen a locksmith do it on other non-ferrari cars using lock picks and applying very little pressure.

 

Since the floor tub is fiberglass, cut a hole in it just so your arm can get thru, and reach up and get your keys off the seat, or use a coat hanger thru the hole just cut to retrieve keys. then seal it back up again with another piece of fiberglass or plastic - just a thought!!

 

Thats quite a thought. Why not call a Locksmith and get the job done. Last time I locked my keys in the car it cost me a whopping 25.00 and took about ten minutes for the lock guy to show up.

You were fortunate. The one and only time I did that it cost me $55.00.

 

And nothing gets delivered in ten minutes California or many other places today.

having had my door apart many times, unless the locksmiths slim jim is special it won't work. the mondial has two rods that are in a north/south to the tumbler, when locking or unlocking you are actuating the lock in the door handle, this in turn is rotated in that same manner as the tumbler, so the rods move from front to back and vise versa. the door motor in the door is actually a switch to signal the passenger door motor to unlock.

There is no way the door locked electrically.

 

I was wondering that, I've also noted the door can not be locked while it is open either, you risk breaking parts. so with the first post here on how to jimmy a ferrari open it does seem suspicious.

I tipped a locksmith the other day (Renters abandoned house but left it locked up tight.) I tipped him because he gave me a couple of lockpicking tools and taught me how to use them so I'd never have to call him again.

Or its a really bad "hood" and he never wants to come back again to pick a lock?

I am really surprised a Ferrari would auto lock when you shut the door. on my old 308 I cannot push my lock button down with the door open. They built a safety feature into the mechanism to prevent you locking yourself out. After trying to find a locksmith who would even have key blanks, much less be able to make a key, I decided to make 5 sets of keys and I now have spares.

Check your state laws. In some states (such as VA), owning lock picks is considered prima facie evidence of intent to burgarlize, so just owing lock picks is illegal.

Sometimes (as Dickens observed) the law *is* an ass.
