Wow, beautiful example. Seats are reversed (left to right), no biggie. I wonder what kind of condition it was in before they restored it. Highest price for a Khamsin I know of (not that I have followed their pricing that closely) was about $50 or $55k for a restored one about 3 years ago.

Hello Jordan: Hope you are well and driving the wheels off #1234!

Highest price in the US was 60$K for a restored car near New York about 2 years ago, but realize that there are none for sale in the US and that the resale red one that was for sale in the midwest sold to Europe.

If you look at prices for 5 speed cars (automatics are not desired) in Mobile.de, in classidriver.com, in anamera.com in autoscout24.com you will see that Khamsins have in the last year and a half started getting the attention they deserved, the number of cars sold has increased very strongly and that there are very very few available. Think about it: almost as quick as a Daytona, three times as rare, much nicer to drive and several times cheaper.

    Best regards,

Something smells. While it appears to be in nice condition, there are a number of things that jump out as not being correct on the car. And if they can be picked out without much effort, it makes one wonder what else wasn't done correctly that is not as obvious.

Check the bid history; this is way too much for this car in the current market. While the market has gone up dramatically in the last few years, Khamsins have only gone up slightly. That will eventually change, probably after the Ghibli takes its next jump. Which should be happening soon as Daytonas have just jumped over the 300k mark.

    Hello Joe:

Hope you and 1226 are well.

1140 was a basket case when I saw it in the fall of last year in Florida: the interior was completely shot, the body had just been badly repainted (1140 was verde scuro new according to Ermanno Cozza at the factory). I was on holiday in my former home Fort Lauderdale and had been asked to do the bumper conversion on 1054, owned by a Swiss acquaintance of mine who keeps it there, since he knew I had done it on my my car. I normally don't work on cars but since I had time and enjoy "undisfiguring" a US Khamsin by doing the Euro bumper conversion I did it. Then while doing the conversion on 1054 the owners of 1140 saw me and asked if I would do their car: I did that too and I finished it 36 hours before heading to Stockholm for Christmas!

I have no other connection with them, had no idea what happened to the car since December and was like you surprised to see it show up on Ebay. Obviously they have done a lot of cosmetic work, the interior is very nice (the steering wheel center should be black, not tan and the hollows in the inner door panels should be carpet like material not leather, I am sure the concours minded might have noticed other small things, but those are not the end of the world) the new paint seems very good but mechanically apart of carb. rebuilding I don't know what they have done.
It could be very nice or in need of serious work I have no idea. This car it appears was last registered by its previous owner in 1994 and when I saw it in the fall it did indeed look as though it had sat for that long.

Regarding prices Joe you should be aware that things have changed.

I have as of two days ago a handshake agreement for my car AM120US1242 to be sold at 51000$ to a wonderful couple in the Los Angeles area (most reluctant sale in the history of mankind). My car is very strong mechanically, everything works, original unrestored condition, the interior, particulalry the drivers seat is tired, but I did not care because I sat on it and drove! I still have the record between Key Largo and Homestead on Card Sound road: 22 minutes, 93mph average, saw 160 8 times in that time span -just kidding officer, really:)-.
The red AM120194 that Mark Hyman had in Missouri (which was like trying to sell a Nascar pick up truck in Monaco!)was sold to Europe. 194 was actually either rame or gold when new. plain red does not work on Khamsin's though Burgundy is very attractive.

In Europe several cars have sold in the last year, activity is definitely up, the only cheap price was one at Coys in England in February, all other sales have been north of 40000 Euros. Bonhams sold one at Gstaad last year for a very strong price. Lukas Huni a very expensive Swiss dealer bought two for future inventory, he is not even advertising them, one of these being AM120354. A friend of mine bought AM120016 south of Paris in April and after a lot of pressure by one of his friends has sold it for a much higher price. A gorgeous Zhurich area pino verde car was sold recently, this is one of the nicest in the world.
If you take the time to look through the European websites I listed in a previous post (you can pick your language in those sites) in this thread you will see that there are very few cars and they are not cheap!
I have no desire to see the prices go too far because I want to buy another within the next 2 years but I do want to see them be enjoyed and preserved.

Understand that upward movement is not due only to the current booming market, it is also very much due to Khamsins getting the attention they deserve as the last classic V8 Maserati GT's, as the improved successor to the Ghibli which was a wonderful car but very dated.

On another note you might enjoy a video I have made of my car which is on:
