In my '83 400i, the microswitch that energizes the kickdown solenoid in the TH400 recently stopped working. I bought a lot of four used microswitches on eBay for $10 plus $13 shipping. The part number is Honeywell BZ-2RW82255-A2-S. Last night I replaced my broken switch with one of the Honeywells and it works perfectly.

I could not find a direct replacement for the OE unit, but web searches suggested this Honeywell would work. There are two requirements: that the mounting holes be 1" apart, and that the switch use a spring-loaded lever with a roller on the end, like the OE unit. I found no other alternatives with both features. I'm attaching a picture of the Honeywell. These seem to be readily available on eBay and elsewhere, for around $25. They appear to be very solid and high quality.

Edit: The part number that Ricambi America gives for this switch is 106603. Link: Ferrari 400i Parts : Table 12 - THROTTLE CONTROLS (FOR LHD). The switch is number 47 in the attached drawing. It's described as "Micronterruttore per Kick - down Vale per 400 Aut." Ricambi's price quote is the always ominous "Call."

I would expect nothing other from Honeywell.

The three terminals on the switch are labeled "Common" for the hot lead, and iirc "Normally Open" and "Normally Closed" for the other two. Our cars use the one labeled "Normally Open." I used a test light to identify the hot lead on my car, and did not go by color.
