    Hello everybody,

I am currently restoring my 308 GTS dashboard. But unfortunately my kidney shaped vents were very bent and broken. Instead of buying reproduction parts, I decided to try to make my very own. I made the parts in 3D (together with a fellow F-chatter in Holland) and here is the result. It is 3D printed and it looks absolutely great. There is a certain grain to it, but I guess I'll have that sanded and coated to match the exact same finish.

If anyone is interested in these reproduction #60044401 kidney shaped dash vents, please let me know. Pricewise they will be cheaper than the other reproduction parts, and they are exact copies (no bolds but the original pins).

Looks really really nice Kris. What kind of material is it made from (is it heat-resistant enough)?

Wonderful that you took the time to reproduce this item. I would be interested in purchasing 2 of these if and when you decide to sell these impossible to find items. Way to go!

    I'm interested.

Are all 308 years the same on that vent? I'd think so.

Fantastic work, Kris. Way to go!

I can foresee so many bits of ordinary 308 plastic getting 3D printed. You're the first (at least that I have seen); you deserve a prize :)

Nice work! I bought a repro set from an fchatter in Australia a couple of years ago, only difference is reinforcement bars between the long ones. Still haven't installed them.

    Good job Kris.

Its possible to know in which printer you printed it? Make and model.

I'm looking to use this same method for reproducing plastic parts, but the price of the good 3D printers -expensive- and the materials available -colour and heat resistence- are the key. The resolution between layers of the printer is another factor.

Just curious: is possible to have the *STL file?

    Cheers

Hi guys.... I'm still working on the finish. Turns out the parts need to be sanded and painted, but it gives a different finish than the original parts. I really want to make the parts as good as the original so they would look like the other round vents in the middle of the dashboard. I'm not quite there yet, but I'm close. I will keep you posted.

If there is any interest in 'raw' parts that you can finish yourself, please send me a PM. The raw, unprocessed parts (as seen on the pictures) are € 120/pair (or $ 150/pair).

Finished parts are about € 150 (or $ 190/pair). prices are shipping exclusive.
