I just went out to get the mail & must have popped a green tree frog with the screen door. Something caught my eye & I looked down to notice him as he laid belly up on the porch in front of me. I carefully picked him up & placed him in my bird bath at the waters edge. His little body was depressed & it was clear his back legs were paralyzed as he pulled himself up by his fronts while the rears trailed behind. Thought about moving him so a bird wouldn’t pick him off but decided that fate would be for the best. What have you killed lately that bothered you?

Uhhhh your not saying that you didnt put it out of its misery did you?

I ran over a kitten one time. Felt bad. Felt fine 10 minutes later. I used to run over squirrels ever chance I got when young, now I dont bother. Before you tree huggers scream, have you ever seen a dead squirrel up close? Nasty, disgusting rats with furry tails. The used to eat my mom's tomatoes. When I was a kid, she would pay me a few bucks for each one I killed with the shotgun.

A few years ago, a guy hit a dog in the street with his car, people at the scene said the dog was missing patches of flesh, so the driver hit it in the head with a tire iron.

He was put in jail for the act of killing the dog with the tire iron. Another sad part of that story is there was a vet on that street, right behind the dog.

    shudder

I don't know what should be done in those situations, kill the animal asap to keep it from suffering or rush it to a vet no matter the injury or cost?

My dog ended up at the shelter when he was run over and suffered a badly broken leg.. from what the workers told me, there was a lot of blood and they weren't sure if was going to make it.

I adopted him three months later, and it'll be 3 years together in October.. so the long answer is yes, I'd try.

I've never killed anything that didn't deserve it; ie, sniper training with (potentialy diseased) rats using a Winchester .22 LR on my parents ranch home, a row of balloons on a string using a Colt .223 rifle. However, a while back, a group of wild turkeys decided to fly across the highway at the wrong time, wrong road. Without taking out other drivers along side of me, I winged one with the car. For that instant I felt bad, but in my rear view mirror a diesel truck finished the job in a fraction of a second. It was history, I needed to focus on driving. I guess I was an accessory to turkey murder.

I was talking to a guy the other day who when he was a child his grandmother would pay him for every squirrel he would go kill for her. She would eat the brain with her eggs for breakfast.

Ran over a raccoon late one night a few months ago. It makes you sad, but is better than running off the road or head-on into someone else trying to avoid it. I turned around and checked, it was obvious he was done for. I ran over him again to finish him off.

Within 50 feet on the same road, a couple of years ago I ran over an opossum on my motorcycle. When I turned around to check, he was gone. He probably made it, those things are very tough.

Any car I've ever owned has been a Pigeon-Seeking-Missile.

Got 2 coyotes in one fell swoop once (it was foggy) & another in a rental car. Bits of fur on the Mustang's right front rim served as a grim reminder...

    not to me...

    coyotes.
