Took out my 550 this morning and drove it to the office. There seems to be someting wrong with my Oil-Pressure-Gauge. Probably not something to worry, but I just don't like when things go wrong.

Has anyone had the same problem before?

There's nothing wrong with your gauge. You need to replace your oil pressure sender. When it fails it causes high oil pressure readings like that.

Could also be connectors. I had the same issue and it persisted after replacing the sending unit. Ended up being loose connectors and, if I remember correctly, corrosion at the connectors too. Once this was addressed it has been perfect since.

Both excellent pieces of advice! :)

I only just had the same issue on my car yesterday. *Not my Ferrari*

It was actually a dirty/loose connection on the oil pressure sender unit which made my pressure guage "read" the same as yours. If the gauge read zero, then I would have shut the engine off because of the obvious reasons. :D:D

I cleaned the plug and refitted, oil pressure gauge all ok now. :)

i'd like to clean mine also, how high does the car need to be raised to access the unit?

Thanks for posting this, mine has been showing the same wacky reading for a few weeks, took off the tray today after seeing your post, cleaned the connectors with contact cleaner. And IT WORKED! The bottom connector (black) was the worst of the two, mostly black gunk inside the black connector.

And thanks atlshaver, 308 GTB and PAP 348 also!

I had the same issue with my F355. The oil pressure was normal with a manual gauge. Replaced the oil pressure sender and its back to normal.

thank you guys! I really appreciate your help.

Can somebody tell me where I Find the connectors that I need to clean?

    Regards from Sunny Zürich

PS: Today I took my TVR out... at least this Oil-Pressure-Gauge always shows funny Numbers, just like every other gauge in the car... ;-)

A 550 and a TVR. A man with impeccable taste! What have you got? My Griffith is a 2 1/2 year customisation/restoration project (see here: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=311281 for a summary in English and a link to the Dutch thread). I hope to be on the road again next summer.

Well, you take it to a whole new level. Mine is a nice used Chimera 500 that I bought in England 2 years ago. She runns very well and is so reliable that it bores me almost ;-)

I have absolutely no upgades that reach the dimensions of yours. An aluminum radiator and 18' spider wheels are all the plastic surgery she got. The wheels look fantastic but don't make the driving better at all.

The car is perfect for me because my Chiuaua fit's just behind the seats...
