http://f1.racing-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news/detail/060514191559.shtml Seems that all is set to unravel, Kimi is officially at Ferrari. Question is - Whether Michael stays or not, Fernando and Kimi will be in new cars. Will Kimi be able to compete right out of the gates for the championship?
Not sure that Ferrari of 2007 is the same as Ferrari of 2006: Too many key players leaving. Aside from that I hope he has a good chance to fight for the title and gives whoever his team mate is hell. I'm no Kimi fan right now, but once he drives for the Scuderia, he is my hero.
Until I see an official press release from Scuderia Ferrari, quoting Monty and JT, none of this is official. Its all just guessing right now. I consider Kimi at Ferrari 50/50: 50% to Ferrari, and 50% to Renault. None of you know any differently. As for Kimi being strong right out of the box, absolutely. He is an excellent+ race car driver. He could step into any car, any track, and be absolutely competitive.
I know Jean Todt is rumored to be leaving...who else (besides potentially Michael)? Ross Brawn? Is it a total house cleaning? (BTW, after so many years it does make sense to change things up, regardless of all of the success they've enjoyed together. Complacency does set in after a while)
well, i read today and ron commented that flav 'is' a very happy man when asked about the kimi situation. in other words, he already signed for renault?? well, flav never denied they were looking for a superstar to replace FA, but kimi? wow....nevertheless, i'm expecting him at the scuderia. nothing's proven till black and white details are given...
Whichever team he joins, they will have to beef up the car like a brick toilet or he will brake it. He is not a gentle driver, but very fast. At ferrari do not expect him to be great, it takes much more than fast to be champion and Kimi is just fast.
Kimi will not be the replacement at Ferrari!!! but i hear the new driver is a bit of a pu*sy Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'd rather see Michael go out while he is still highly competitive, maybe even with WDC #8, than to stay past his prime and get beat down by mid-packers.
Wow, they're replacing Massa with Toonces the Driving Cat? Kimi will do just fine at Ferrari. If they develop the car at the same pace that they did for MS, then Kimi can really challenge for the championship and he will be extremely fast.
I understand how after last year he got a reputation for tearing cars apart, but so far this year it's been Montoya who's had all of the DNF's, leading me to believe it's just McLaren Mercedes unreliability.
One thing for sure... If MS stayed....Kimi will be slower than MS most of the time. At least he will be better support for MS than Massa.
What brings you to that conclusion? The times would be pretty close I think. It's a shame Michael was never teamed with someone close to his equal earlier in his career (ala Senna/Prost). Speculation was that Senna wanted to go to Ferrari. Imagine Senna/Schumacher at Ferrari, what a combination that would have been. Although they were both so ruthless and at each other's throats I don't think it would have worked too well.
I believe that Kimi was overrated last year due to him having a fast car even though it was unreliable at sometimes. If you look at this season when Kimi was presented with a normal car and comparing him with his team mate PM which in my opinion is an avg driver compared to MS. The 1st race PM was faster in qualifying and in the fastest lap. The 2nd race PM scored points while Kimi got into an accident. PM also out qualified Kimi again. The 4th race PM outqulified and scored better points at the end of the race than Kimi. The 3rd and 5th race PM had problems with his car which led him to ret. The last race Kimi just smoked PM. What I'm trying to say is that Kimi could be compared to PM, Coultard, JV, RB etc..., but not MS. That is why I believe if Kimi joined Ferrari he will still be #2 to MS. Just my opinion so i hope no one get offended
