Kimi is a professional and i don't think he would snoop as low as Lotus,,
Kimi cannot not drive. that would let Lotus off the hook contactually. Would you put your life at risk for 2 hours in a car that is owned by a company that won't/can't pay you? We will never know whether Kimi's crash was intentional as the only person that knows (Kimi) will never say. and Lotus will never know as well. Get it?
Deliberately? If his contract calls for being paid bonus $ for points scored why crash out on purpose to go home early even if he has not been paid so far. Why not add to the lawsuit to collect claim balance in the case he may have to pursue a legal remedy to get paid. A positive judgment would likely carry penalty fees on all amounts owed if he were to prevail which seems to be highly likely.
If Lotus can have such a competitive car by NOT paying their driver, perhaps Ferrari could improve its results by not paying their driver(s).
Kimi has said plenty of times the only reason he didn't quit earlier is because he loves racing. Now a fight from the far back all the way to the points are arguably the most entertaining as a driver. I seriously doubt that he'd ruin another drivers' race (or worse) just to get back at Lotus. If he wanted to quit he'd quite simply just park it, tell Permane to drive it himself, and go home.
I stand corrected about Lotus position in the constructors championship. Now comes the news that Kimi is sitting out the last two Grand Prix for his back surgery and he has been to Maranello for a seat fitment. I am not given to conspiracy theories, that would have been the Scuderia of old when Enzo was alive, ect, but I knew that was the last race from Kimi for Lotus when he 'crashed' out at the first corner. I'm pretty sure that if he'd been in the fight for the title he'd still carry on and have his operation done after the season, like it was planned. However, the earlier he gets this operation the quicker he can get into shape. Has Ferrari urged him to do it now? I don't know, won't surprise me, and don't really care...He's out of the fight, and this way he can conveniently avoid going to paris in December for the top 3 driver prize giving (last year he said he only wanted to go if he won the title, otherwise he'd rather finish 4th, lol). After the op he can't train for a month, and after that it's hard work to get into shape for 2014 (remember that testing is in January even). With a doctors note, it's a legit way of getting out of their contract early.
I highly doubt Ferrari urged him to do anything - I think it is personal from Kimi because he is mad at Lotus for mistreatment and lack of timely payment this year. He got agreement that Lotus will pay him (finally, long overdue), and then he basically said F you anyway, and got his revenge. And it's the perfect excuse - the medical operation gives him an excuse that can't be challenged easily and he saves face. I might have considered the same thing were I really mad at Lotus and in his position of leaving the team shortly thereafter. Also, this reactive behaviour should remind us how nice and humble Massa has been throughout all the bumps in the road with Ferrari. It was nice to see the very well deserved tribute to him this weekend!
Kimi + management and Lotus agreed that salary would be paid before last week saturday midnight. Guess what. Hasn't happened. Estimates are that Lotus are around 150 to 200 Million british pounds in debt. Still no engine deal either for next year (probably haven't paid Renault...)
