NASCAR is a totally different discipline. I think it will be the current field doing the laughing. He may get on but it will take time and effort.
This story is obviously false. We know from some posters here who said they personally knew Kimi's true story, that he would be driving for Red Bull F1 in 2011, replacing Mark Webber. Since they were 100% sure the above was accurate, we can only assume Kimi likes his anonymity and has been wearing a Mark Webber mask.
Not so Kimi will do NASCAR in an attempt to introduce himself to the American electorate. There have been sightings in Iowa and New Hampshire. OR: How rumors start.
Can't disagree with this more. Kimi "bailed" cause no top team in F1 would touch him any longer. Mclaren said he was disinterested and lazy, Ferrari said he was disinterested and lazy, and their simply no space for drivers like that in F1.
Sorry to all tue doubters that this story is fake; Raikkonen's manager confirmed it, also Montoya would welcome Kimi http://mobile.racer.com/montoya-would-welcome-raikkonen/marticle/199568/
I have seen Kimi speak French, Swedish, Italian, English and Spanish. I anticipate him struggling with speaking Redneck though. He is going to have to trade in the Kristal for a Bud and hang with Dale Jr.
You are excused this time! That book "Chapman - The Innovator" you recommended arrived some time ago. Now I can't find the time to read it. Typical ! I will have to send the family on vacations in May to have some peace and catch up on my reading.
Who can Photoshop up a nice Finlandia Vodka NASCAR racer? Martini's the new official drink of Nascar replacing beer? : )
Kimi's paperwork has been submitted and approved by NASCAR; first scheduled event will be May 20th at Charlotte. No word on first test etc.....
Was this not only "silly season" rumours, which if i remember correctly was started by David Coulthard in his Telegraph news paper column? I could be wrong, but i don't remember their ever being an official statement on the subject made by Mclaren or Kimi, or by Kimi's people.
No links but the story was if he went to McLaren he'd lose the last year's pay in his Ferrari contract and McLaren was offering less. In effect he'd be losing money driving for Woking but Ron was willing to sign and pay him.
From information on KIMI moving to NASCAR, go to autosport.com. This is better than speedtv.com. His move to NASCAR is a bit ridiculous most racers think. He is entering the truck series... http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/90349
It says in the NASCAR rulebook you get about 500 points just for putting your helmet on right side out. Hope Kimi follows a trajectory closer to Johnny Mo's than Scott "Aintgotno" Speed's. Seriously, I'll tune in. Tell the fans he used to drive Ferraris and he's from the same country as Simo Hayha. They'll take right to him. Also seriously.
Kimi testing Kyle busch's truck next week. Perfect guy for him to learn from..... http://mobile.racer.com/raikkonen-to-test-truck-next-week/marticle/199797/
One WDC after years of struggle, and he was suddenly like a neutered dog. His ambition left the building. Shame.
