I’ll always remain an enamoured Ice fan but he retired long before last winter.

Nice to see another seat become available.

I have to say it is really past due. He was never a favorite of mine, a fine driver when he was "switched on" ... sadly that was a rare occasion. I could never understand the passion people have for him. he is what you see.... there doing a job. that is it.

Still Ferrari's last WDC. I'll miss him a lot. Could probably have won a lot more with a bit of luck. Mega talent that was simply racing in the wrong era. Had he raced in the 70s we'd be writing about the 5x champion, probably. Lol.

Kimi exploited a nonchalant attitude which became his trademark..

I read once that he adopted it originally because of his poor English in hope to shorten the interviews.

Apparently he can get quite wild in his own environment back home among other Finns.

Doubt he will be missed much. Since his move to Alfa, he's been pretty much invisible.

Still, one of the greatest talent, and someone, who i think should have been at least a triple WDC.

Well in fairness, he wasn't hired to win races--he was hired as an experienced driver to help develop the car. There was never any delusions of grandeur of winning another WDC title in the Alfa. ;)

As for being invisible....he kinda enjoyed that part, I bet.

I remember when he beat Hamilton for the championship
Went to a little bar in Frisco to watch the race
They'd opened early in the morning for race fans
    I'll miss him

I stopped following F1 regularly after 2008 when the cars became ugly, but always loved watching him race and his interviews. My favorite probably when he was with McLaren at Monaco and his race ended early and he walked from the car straight to a yacht to party in a tub and drink lol. He never took himself too seriously and always made sure he was having fun more than anything and still able to win a WDC like that.
