Isn't this a little early to give up on the championship after a mere two races? It's a long season and lots of things can change. Poor reflection on his sporting attitude. True or not, there are some things you just shouldn't say. How do you think the crew feels about this?

    Poor form Raikkonen.

Is this the first time you've read an interview from Kimi? He's simply speaking his mind...pretty much par for the course with Kimi 100% of the time. By the way, it looks like Kimi's not the only one who feels this way ;) "Team boss Stefano Domenicali agrees."

The truth does seem to make some people feel very uncomfortable...fortunately Kimi has never had that problem.

Yes it is very typical Kimi, but we'll see if he changes his mind if/when things start to pick up.

IMO...If he does change his mind or if he doesn't, either way, he will still be speaking his mind and saying what he feels is true regardless of what "other people" might think or say.

Ei sillä ole väliä, jos ihmiset ajattelevat tuolla tavalla. Minä en oikeastaan välitä paskaakaan.

 Shouldn't the title of this thread be ' Kimi and Domenicali throw in the towel for this season."

:D Funny how you guys are always singling out Kimi for something like this but not the others who're saying the same thing.

Not at all. If you know you aren't going to be competitive (they know they can't catch up quickly), I don't see a problem with being realistic about it.

Whatever happened to improving the car, trying your best, and never giving up? This is a sport. Kimi is acting like a child IMO.

When you are 2 seconds off the pace, there are no quick and dirty solutions. It is not like adding RAM to your computer although some simpletons seem to think that.

I think Kimi is refreshingly honest about how he feels at the time whether it's right or wrong. I happen to like him for that.

It's better than reading the corporate team BS.

Domenicali is just bitter the FIA didn't swing it his way....I'd blame it on his sweeping of the decks back at HQ.

He said they are going to try to improve the car and get some wins by the end of the season. That doesn't sound like giving up to me. However they are well off the pace and testing is limited (the main problem, I think) so it seems unlikely they can make a bid for WCC or WDC.

Fine, be honest...... When your asked if you did something. Fess up.

In terms of a sport...... Speak like a champion, think like a champion. Be of a character that you see yourself, the team pressing and driving foward with one focus in mind - The Championship.

With this kind of mind set he already posesses, he will always be mediocre. Yes I understand, he has made it through the ranks and is a fine driver. But in this rank he needs a complete package, mind and body, all th time.

    Listen to Shumi speak.

Even listen to Hamilton speak before races.

They speak with a certainty in their voice. 9tenths of the time.

Hell did you ever here Valentino Rossi speak? Full of himself or not. Whatever you think. He thinks with certainty.

    IMO. Thank you.

And what exactly is the definition of "acting like a champion"???
    Seems pretty relative to me...

Thank you Tobias. "We know. The point of this thread is that he's not ACTING like it."

All in all, if your gonna hold the status of a World Champoin. Continue to be hungry for additional W.C.

Speak in terms of utmost certainty. If your not speaking of this; than your not thinking of this.

    Nonsense.

The 2009 Ferrari is a turd and neither driver has a chance in hell of winning the title. Kimi is just honest and realistic.

The only thing Ferrari can achieve this season is the occasional podium, but what good is that gonna do?

They should do what Brawn did last season: Write this one off and start developing the 2010 car NOW.

Other great WDCs have done the same thing: Lauda and Prost were always outspoken about the chances of their cars. Kimi fits right in. Anything else would be dilusional and dishonest.

Of course he is not acting. He is being himself. That's why I like the guy. Imagine a guy who became a World Champion being mediocre, gotta REALLY respect that. I guess it is the curse of The Übermensch...

    +1.

While I do like what he said here, in general I'm not a big fan of Kimi's attitude. Part of it is I don't really connect with what folks are calling his Finnish demeanor (HK seems to be pretty enthusiastic though ...). Anyway the point I wanted to make is that even with that said, I prefer Kimi's blunt and honest, if somewhat dour, comments to Massa's incessant group hug speeches.

Kovalainen is weak. He let Flavio rip apart the Finn in him along with his confidence and speed. The same thing basically happened to JJ Lehto. Heikki was very fast in many types of cars and on different surfaces before Flavio.

Hmmm, What would be the case if Enzo were alive? Throw in the towel, Ahh F**ck it?

Would he say this? I think not.

Were not talking about "acting" as in pretending or playing a role.

Were talking about BEING. Being a Champion.

Granted a set back for Ferrari. I'm just as disappointed as everyone here.

Is it possible that all this team's experience in F1 and given it's racing heritage, that a reasonable competitive solution can not be determined?

Seriously people. I'm just disappointed in Kimi and his outlook, whether it be real or not.
Its always the same. Bleak and no enthusiam.

All I want is a hunger from him no matter what.

    Thanks.

Being super optimistic won't make the car going faster...

They are not saying they throw the towel, they are just being realistic about the situation.

    Don't you ever seen a F1 season?
it's almost impossible to come back when you are so far behind, and this year you can't just had one or two flaps and a
few wings everywhere on the car to make it perform better, evolutions are limited, plus there is barely any test time.

Stop critize people because they don't act the way your stereotypical vision would like to ..

I missed the days when MS back in 2005 and 2006 refused to throw in the towel no matter how hard it was. Now, it's just the 3rd race of the season and the driver and team principal are giving up? What a joke.
