According to this mornings autosport Ferrari have already taken up their option to have Kimi Raikkonen partner MS at Ferrari next year.....who knows if it's actually going to happen but it does sound highly likely given Todt's comments in the teams post race press release last week about seeing his 3 favourite drivers on the German GP podium

I couldn't find this article. The other day I saw an article in Autosport about Todt signing for one more year, then by mid mornng it disappeared. Possibly the same thing happened here?

But I am beginning to believe the unbelievable might come true: Michael and Kimi on the same team. To take it one step further, and this is just my opinion, Kimi will bring his own version of Ross Brawn and Michael will replace Jean Todt in 2008.

The article on Kimi moving was in this weeks magazine rather than the website :)

    Thank you.

I knew I should have coughed up the money and also subscribed to the printed magazine! Autosport is still the best readily available motor sports publication on the stands. They even do NASCAR better than the US mags.

I do not think I will see that issue in the States until early next week.

Am I the only one who dreads seeing Kimi in a Ferrari uniform? The man has NO charisma. I'd rather have an interesting & colorful drivers and see the SF finish second -- racing is supposed to be entertaining.

I read about it too. I find this boring; I just can see Kimmi as a Ferrari driver. He's lack communication skills and mind-numbing personality is upsetting. I just have to hope Ferrari puts him in media training school. He may be a good driver but I am afraid he will make the F1 unexciting.

Lauda won more races and championships than Jean Alesi or Gerhardt Berger...........but there's no doubt Jean and Gerhardt were far more fun out of the cars than Niki, which is the preferable Drive for Ferrari.....the boring winner or the entertaining also ran's

Ditto. The fact that he is not into the media, rarely gives interviews, makes him much more interesting as a driver. At least to me.

I just can't see him being the hard-partying, crazy ladies man he is. I mean, what, does he just sit in a corner at the club and let everything walk up to him?

More confirmation that Kimi will be a Ferrari driver next year...was published in the finnish paper Ilta-Sanomat naming a source close to the driver. The contract is for 5 years for a reported 32 million per season.
    can't wait for 2007

One of Finlands bigger tabloids (iltasanomat) announced today that they had confirmed that KIMI is moving for the NEXT FIVE YEARS to Ferrari, with a 160 milj € contract, and he has the right to make other pr contracts. The article isn't online even if it is in the magazine which is odd, but I'll see if I can get som info online somehow.

futreowner, I inderstand completely what you are saying, but after witnessed many of KIMIs partying nights here in Finland I can tell you, give that boy some booze and he IS the party.

I find the interviews after the races to be a very interesting and important part of F1. Being able to describe and share your experience on the track is for me a big part of F1. It is in these situations where Kimmi has made a disgrace of himself, the man can hardly speak English at all.

I have no doubt that he will be a great driver for Ferrari but F1 is more than being a good driver; I want a little inside info and show too.

Lucky you - my magazines are anywhere from a week to two weeks behind the current one as shown on the website. But even the delay is definitely worth the wait for them due to the diversity of motorsport coverage. Beats the hell out of Ladies Home Journal!!

I do not think that any of us has truly witnessed Kimi's personality. I have heard from very connected insiders that much of his drinking and nocturnal extravagance is because he is really distraught with McLaren. In other words, he is really bummed. What does he have to be happy about? Kimi is competitive, and he can't be in a car that has broken in a manner that could be physically harmful to him. Can you imagine a conversation between Ron Dennis and Kimi? Holy crap, the thought just put me to sleep.

Besides, I also heard a rumor that Jean Todt was going to put Kimi through the NASCAR school of public relations, the Italian version. That's the one where they teach you to look at the camera, smile, mention every sponsor's name, while drinking a milk and Coca Cola combo, all along somebody is alternating sponsor hats on your head while you are speaking. In the Italian version you are taught to emphasize all of your words with your hands, and add an "a" sound at the end of the last word in a sentence, and they use chianti instead of the milk/Coca Cola drink.

No one does the interview better than one of the NASCAR boys.

Wow Ron - well stated. I remember being in Hockenheim a few years back and McLaren had an enormous tv screen set up at their display with an interview of Kimi taking place (not live) and he was quite personable in that interview. We MUST remember to respect the drivers, their country and customs. We've been to Finland many times and I really like the Finnish people, their customs and definitely their country.

Too bad for Masa. I think he is doing a great job AND really coming into his own as a top flight driver. Hope he picks up a good ride next year.

Maybe red will bring Kimi out more than gray. ;)
