I am very glad to hear that Kimi is joining ferrari next season! I have always been a Kimi fan and im glad hes getting out from McLaren. But will he beat Massa like everyone seem to expect? I mean Massa has shown great speed lately and having been a test driver Massa sure knows Ferrari very well. While Kimi is coming to a new team and pretty much has to start from scratch. So will Kimi beat Massa in pts next season? I sure hope so but I really dont think hes going to be that much faster... I would say they will be very close. What do you guys predict?
I always liked Kimi. It will be interesting to see how he and Massa work together. I cannot wait for next season to begin. aehaas
Doesn't really matter as he'll have team orders to follow. I'm sure if it is proven the Kimi is off for whatever reason their orders could switch.
I've always been a big Kimi fan. His mannerisms may be a bit robot-like when interviewed, but you can see some emotion come through now and then. He's just the Ice Man, that's the way he is, blame it on the long cold winters he grew up in. He is a brilliant driver, and has come close so many times, only to be failed by McLaren. I definitely want to see him clinch the WDC 2007!
Kimi will blow him away. Kimi has been ahead of every teammate and Massa will be no exception. Not to mention even JV had the measure of Massa at Sauber in the second half of the year.
Massa's a great driver, but I really think Kimi, with a team like Ferrari, would be a hell of a driver. We shal see though.. It's gonne be fun none-the-less
Glad to see Kimi at Ferrari although somewhat disapointed by Ferrari's "sacking" of the greatest F1 driver of all time to make room. I feel it was gratious of KR to let MS win this race at Monza.
It's not going to be fun for Kimi: It's "put up or shut up" time for the Finn. Let's see how ice handles pressure ...
Wonder if he'll get a better personality next year? Time to crank up the Ferrari PR machine - he needs to be deeply immersed into Italian culture and emerge with more (visible) passion and charisma!
I don't think for one second that Ferrari "sacked" Michael. I would have to believe that they insisted that he make up his mind quickly, so they would not lose Raikkonen AND Massa. From today's interviews, I believe that Michael understood the Team's position. Maybe he did not like being rushed, but he definetely understood. He will have some sort of position with the team in 2008, maybe teaching Kimi how to smile and give decent interviews. As for Kimi and Felipe, do not underestimate Massa. Everything will depend on the team orders to which none of us is privy. Even with the fastest car, it does take skill to drive it to the point that you are third in points behind your boss and the defending world champion. Besides, Ferrari renewed his contract through 2008. In this situation, they know more than any of us, and apparently, Felipe is doing his job very well.
According to some reporst Michael made up his mind after the US Grand Prix, I don't think he rushed into anything, I think he just decided it was time to pursue new opportunities. As to who is better next year.....who cares. I am a Ferrari fan, as long as either of them are up front I could care less. Here is to multiple Ferrari 1-2's next year. JP
Massa is a third-rate journeyman driver who will be out of F1 in 3 years. Kimi is going to destroy him.
Massa is ahead of Kimi in points (62 vs. 57), so he's no slouch. Massa has Ferrari and Bridgestone experience, Kimi does not. Massa trained under Schumi. I wouldn't throw in the towel on Massa. It will be interesting to see how next year pans out. Either way it will be a good team.
very true ron. i don't think it's gonna be an issue..really. but i;m sure the scuderia has no favours for any particular driver, for the 1st time since 96. of cos, the driver who has more points by mid season will get more support from the team. a logic thing to do. whther it's kimi or massa. but, i do hope kimi's not the engine destroyer as they labelled him. i just hope it was the benz engine. Ferrari have the most reliable engine out there. i hope it gels with kimi's driving style. having said that, i'm rooting for plenty of 1-2s next season. maybe, a repeat of '04?
I must have watched a different race. MSs actions in victory lane speak louder than words. Todts as well. True enough, but to compare Massa to KR and MS ? I'm not saying the last guy on the grid or test position is not a great driver; he wouldnt be in that arena if he wasnt. Its that the last 1/10 is what seperates the greats from the also-rans. Last year at this time most were waving the RB flag. Massa is in the same situation.
Of course Kimi and Massa will compliment each other. Kimi will be fast; Massa will be slow. Kimi will win; Massa will lose.
Kimi is obviously better then Massa. However Massa will be a great asset to Ferrari next year, certainly much more so then Fisico at Renault. Kimi will get Ferrari the DC, but Massa will confirm the CC.
Now THAT is a silly comment. Rule #1 in all of racing: out-perform your teammate. Kimi is a racer. He will drive to beat everyone, and that especially includes his teammate.
