Not sure if this should go in a different section, but it's interesting WRCShare EmailFeedbackPrint Raikkonen crashes out of Rally Mexico ESPNF1 Staff March 6, 2010 Kimi Raikkonen inspects the damage to his car © Sutton Images Related Links Profiles: Kimi Räikkönen Ex-F1 driver Kimi Raikkonen has crashed out of Rally Mexico in spectacular fashion. Raikkonen, who swapped F1 for rallying when Fernando Alonso replaced him at Ferrari, rolled his Citroen C4 six times on the final gravel stage of day one. Both Raikkonen and his co-driver Kaj Linstrom were unharmed, but the car was destroyed in the accident and he was forced to retire. He finished 30th in Rally Sweden last month after a number of mistakes dropped him well down the order. He was also out of contention before his big accident in Mexico, but showed real potential on an asphalt stage when he set the fifth fastest time. He will now have to wait until early April for another chance to prove his talent at the next round of the WRC in Jordan.
Not really.... I don't remember him making any big mistakes at the end of the season, other than when Webber cut across him in Brazil.
IMHO, yes it should..... I started a thread in "other racing" after Rally Sweden (wherein he also crashed!), but it seems almost no one reads that forum. No big deal, but this is also a definite "spoiler" - Please at least title it as such, thanks, Cheers, Ian
so uhhh.. when did Kimi actually have any crashes in 2009? I can only recall him crashing out because he ran wide over the curbs in the very first race of the season. Which was Webber being aggressive (as he is as a driver, and I don't mind it).
Where did I say anything about crashing? The article was about Kimi's bad results in WRC having failed to finish due to driver error (again). Point being, he's not exactly setting the WRC world on fire. A continuation of his performance trend @ Ferrari, which led to an uncerimonious firing.
He rolled it 6 times? That would sure rattle your cage. If he does that many more times I'm sure he'll quietly fade off into the distance.
IMO many of the top WRC drivers would be better at F1 than vice-versa. Kimi should have gone to Indy car (or whatever it's called today)
Well, if Kimi does ever get back to Singapore or Spa, he might hesitate to put it into the wall, after having to shovel away the snow bank he hit in Sweden. (No, Kimi, the corner marshals don't do that for you. ) But most top flight rally drivers get the dirty side up once in a while. Pushing the envelope will do that. Spoiler yes, sorta: HDnet only runs the rallyes on a two week delay. (Rally Sweden was only broadcast last week.) :bummer: (Not that I'd expect people to hold off that long on a discussion.) According to the season preview, Tacuma Sato is joining IRL (Indycars) for 2010. Should be interesting.
